In addition to withdrawing from Iraq: Since the US, under false pretenses, in violation of international law invaded Iraq and caused extensive damage to public and private property, loss of life and limb and extensive economic damage, should the US pay war reperations to Iraq.

history seems to suggest that when empires end they collapse from decadence within and barbarians hordes at the gates or more recently, carved up by its enemies with its people crippled by reparations and its leadership hanged/shot/jailed or spending the rest of their life hunted down like dogs wherever they flee

I'd say the 'superpower' days are already over, but withdrawing and being something of a humbled middle power might still be an option if Americans make the right choices in the next decade or so.

That's why I voted NO. My only problem is with the word, Reparations. I think I understand where you are coming from, mostly anyway. Talk about Reconstruction Aid and I am fully behind it. It could be the same amount of money. And my problem is not around not wanting to admit any guilt. My problem is with wanting to vote war mongering Republicans out of power, and fighting for "Reparations" for Iraq is a message that will play well with 20% of voters and play poorly with 60% of voters.

I don't want to get hung up on the word. Most people can get behind that we made a mistake to invade Iraq. Most people will not get behind thinking this nation guilty of a war crime for having invaded. Most people still think it was a good and noble idea, in the abstract, to free the Iraq public from Hussein, just that the cost to Americans and Iraqis was much higher than expected, and not worth the cost. I pay attention to right wing spin and how it is used to bring down Democrats and preserve their power. It is only my opinion, but Democrats advocating Reparations for Iraq would help Republicans win, and that would mean more wars. The concept isn't worth that cost.
