Fox whore John Gibson on London attacks: "blow up Paris, and who cares?"
http://mediamatters.org/items/200507080002

Fox's Gibson on "golden opportunity" missed: If France had been selected for 2012 Olympics, terrorists would "blow up Paris, and who cares?"

The day before the July 7 terrorist attacks on London buses and subways, Fox News host John Gibson stated that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) "missed a golden opportunity" because, if France had been selected to host the 2012 Olympics, terrorists would "blow up Paris, and who cares?" Following the London attacks, Gibson reiterated that the IOC ought to have selected Paris instead of London, because the British should "let somebody else be worried about guys with backpack bombs for a while."

From the July 6 broadcast of Westwood One's The Radio Factor with Bill O'Reilly, guest-hosted by Gibson: "By the way, just wanted to tell you people, we missed -- the International Olympic Committee missed a golden opportunity today. If they had picked France, if they had picked France instead of London to hold the Olympics, it would have been the one time we could look forward to where we didn't worry about terrorism. They'd blow up Paris, and who cares?"

From the "My Word" segment of the July 7 edition of Fox News' The Big Story with John Gibson: "The bombings in London: This is why I thought the Brits should let the French have the Olympics -- let somebody else be worried about guys with backpack bombs for a while."

47. You truly expect anything different???
Faux News is supported and gears its message to the neanderthal xenophobes out there who blindly cast their narrow eyes downward at anything they deem as un-American or anti-American. . .you know, things like dissent, free speech (so long as the speech doesn't agree with their ideas), a constructive argument against our government's idiotic leaders, etc.

It amazes me that Faux News still has ANY credibility at all. It amazes me that Faux News has any validity to it and it amazes me that this partisan station is the one that all other corporate media wants to emulate.

At least there are a few outlets that don't spooge on themselves over death like the right-wing ideologues do.

Please hand me a barf bag. I can't take it anymore.

52. Is it possible to support a blog...
...that's devoted entirely to writing sarcastic letters to Faux News? It seems to me that the idiocy of the conservative assclowns on Fox could support Media Matters all by itself. Everytime I send a letter to Fox, I hear of fresh idiocy that I could've included in with the last letter then another one after then another, then another. The assembly line of ass-clownery just never ends.

are you just assuming? Not all bad people are nominally Christians, any more than all Christians are bad people.

5. These people really are divorced from reality
Olympics caused the bombings??? Iraq is a paradise now and had absolutely nothing to do with the bombings and in fact if we weren't in Iraq there would be a bombing every other day.

80. Don't blame the rePUBICans, it really isn't their fault.
Critical thinking was never one of their strong points. These ass clowns put 2 and 2 together and come up with "Olympics", rather than Iraq. Any attempt to make them understand that the London attacks were likely due to England's participation in the illegal war gets you:

"Oh Yeah? If Iraq is the reason why London was the target of these attacks, then why was NYC attacked in 2001? There was no war with Iraq then."

So, don't try to understand the senility that spews out of their mouths, just remind them to take their medications.

97. Thank you for the quote and Bible verse number
I have been thinking of that passage a lot and keep meaning to look up where it is in the Old Testament since I don't like the word progressive and am a proud LIBERAL Christian.

I don't know if there is any other reference to liberal in the Bible seemed I looked it up once in a Concordance Bible after the right wing preachers in Charismatic churches I tried and on TV were moving from their snarling SECULAR HUMANISTS as the enemies of all that was "Christian" in their eyes and it used to scare me that they could put any racial or religious group in their hypnotised congregations and it seems that LIBERAL as enemy of all that is "godly" is what they came up with.

I think of Cheney's expression and actions as the summation of CHURL and even before I knew who Cheney was always thought I'd rather be a LIBERAL than a CHURL. Amazing how they managed to blacken the people who have made sure they have clean drinking water, safety standards for their cars, jobs with living wages, care for their elderly and sick relatives so that they could (used to before the conservatives took over - Clinton was not a Democrat, he made draconian cuts in all forms of welfare and programs for the poor including health care) some help with the real burdens that are placed on families with aging and ill family members.

Jesus did warn in the last days would come many false preachers and messiahs and NOT TO GO AFTER THEM - and I am amazed that so many people are completely bambozzled by the right wing preachers.

Greg Palast.com has several articles on the corruption of Pat Robertson including his using money that was supposed to go for his OPERATION BLESSING to transport machinery to his emeral mine in Africa and using what is supposed to be a non-profit religious printing plant to print GOOP literature and when one of his staffers objected to the illegality of printing Republican material misuing the non-profit nature of a "Christian" show like the 700 Club and Robertson replied that the staffer did not know how things worked in the real world and the staffer said he thought it was a strange thing for a Christian preacher to say. Danuta Soderman a former host of the 700 Club had some truthful and negative things to say about Robertson distinctly un-Christian actions.

Not all TV preachers are bad but their are definite temptations to the power of being a leader with a vast TV audience and sadly too many fall or are booted out because they want to do what is really right and moral. So the ones that are left....have no one to question their "authority from God" kinda like Bushco.

121. Why don't you like the word "progressive"?
To my mind, it's just a matter of degree. Progressives are liberals in an all-fired hurry, and liberals are progressives who drag their feet.

Progressive Insurance would probably be open to withdrawing advertising, as they are highly rated at BuyBlue.org, based on having contributed to Democrats only. See:

Are highly rated by buyblue.org. Hyatt, Burlington, B&D...
Playing both sides of the fence?
Blue political donations for those 'crazy liberals' who will boycott red companies and tv advertising on Faux for the repubs???
Or is it just marketing based on reaching the most consumers?
Kind of interesting, though, that they're taking a bunch of that freeper money and donating it to the DNC.

77. Also forget that France has troops in Afghanistan fighting Taliban types
Faux News never mentioned that little known point that France and NATO are knee-deep in Afghanistan fighting with us.

By the way, didn't Britian start making plans to transfer thousands of its troops from Iraq to Afghanistan right before the bombs hit?

"Military commanders are making plans for a major cutback in the number of British forces in Iraq as they prepare to take over responsibility for security in Afghanistan which, they say, the US wants to leave as soon as possible.

The plans signal what will be the most important shift in British military operations since the invasion of Iraq. Senior commanders are making remarkably optimistic noises about progress in building up Iraqi security forces in the south-eastern provinces under British control.

They say the number of British troops in Iraq could be cut to fewer than 2,000 over the next 12 to 18 months. There are some 9,000 there now. That would make it much easier for Britain to meet its commitment to take over the lead Nato role in Afghanistan from next May."

10. Contact the French consulate. Ask them to DEMAND an apology
Gibson's comments could be easily interpreted as HATE SPEECH. It's truly disgusting how he is rejoicing at the idea of an attack on the French. It's truly disgusting and it should be condemned.

We should contact the French Consulate and ask them to get on the case.

Also, we should demand from the FCC that they fine Fox News for hate speech. The French Consulate should also request the FCC for an answer on this irresponsible attitude by Fox News.

11. Does this mook know that French soldiers in Afghanistan are doing a...
...great job? Some American military brass have called them some of the toughest soldiers they have ever seen.

"Afghanistan 1,500 (9% of ISAF) including the contributions to the training of the new Afghan army, and those to Enduring Freedom on the ground (special forces), at sea (3 frigates, 1 tanker and 1 Maritime Patrol Aircraft) or in the air (2 transport aircraft)"

http://www.ambafrance-uk.org/article-imprim.php3?id_article=270

Let's get this mook off his fat ass and over in the sand...perhaps a French soldier might show him what respect means...at the wrong end of a bayonet.

The british have a beautiful tradition of crackin wise at the french , and the french have a tradition of doing the identical same thing about the brits .In fact every european nation cracks wise about another , the dutch about the belgians , the swiss about the french and belgians , the belgians ....well we make fun about ourselves .But in the end no matter where you go in Europe , be it as american or european , those jokes are told in such fashion they make even you laugh .

Didn't Bernard Henry Levy , a prominent french philsopher risk his life to go to pakistan and find out what happened to Daniel pearl .Writting a marvelous book that tells you more about Al queda , than and i'm venturing a bet here , Georgie will ever know .(qui a tue Daniel Pearl )..i dunno if it's available in english , .but it would be , who killed Daniel peal .

It's sad really to see those fuckers give america a bad name .We like america , we really do .It's part of the grass is always greener on the other side of the atlantic illusion .And no matter how loud they yell , no matter how filthy and vile their hatred we will always like the americans .

This off course doesn't mean we can't have a ball watching Micheal moore , or the daily show and join with you in trying to do everything to make those hatred spewing bastards regret they ever decided to leave their dark dungeons .Or be very angry at the republican mind dwarfs in power for making our world much more of a dark place .

One last note , before i cease . the french have one of the most proffesional security forces around .They have been dealing with the basques , the corsicans , the algerians for years .And the french foreign legion has been operating in Africa for a long time , so they do know what to do , be it down in their hood or in some far far away place .

So too summon it up , no matter how filthy the vicious brats get , we wuve you still .

53. I just sent the following to the French Consulate in Chicago
>>>>> I don't know if I have reached the correct place to report this - but as an ordinary American who simply loves France - I wanted to point out a bit of hate speech broadcast here in America that really seems to cross over into something scary.

The following two statements were broadcast nationally. The first on the Fox News Cable TV network. The second on the Radio Factor w/ Bill O'Reilly radio show on Westwood one radio.

Both statements were made by the Fox on-air commentator John Gibson. They are quoted from the website mediamatters.org:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
>>>>>>The day before the July 7 terrorist attacks on London buses and subways, Fox News host John Gibson stated that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) "missed a golden opportunity" because, if France had been selected to host the 2012 Olympics, terrorists would "blow up Paris, and who cares?" Following the London attacks, Gibson reiterated that the IOC ought to have selected Paris instead of London, because the British should "let somebody else be worried about guys with backpack bombs for a while."

They'd blow up Paris, and who cares?"<<<<<<<<<<<<<
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I simply want to let you know that a new level of hate-speech against the French people may now be arising in America and wonder if the French Government might want to respond to the two instances above as they seem to actually encourage the bombing of Paris.

Toward better French/American relations,
(my name snipped)<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

but the french government , and especially the diplomatic corps or foreign service .Even though they will apreciate your sentiment ,very much indeed .Has a bit of a non-intervention policy on media , having worked with a few of them they ussually don't get involved in reprisals or demanding apologies when it comes to foreign media .They do occasionally , and of course the fox bastards having reached a new low in despicability could be one of those occasions .But i think you'ld be more succesful , if you wish to make lots of noise ...which seems to be the only way , if you approached the academic , and or social organizations of the country .Also the U.M.P is in power , and they are old school so they do really abide by the diplomacy for and between diplomats ideology .

My poor country. My poor illiterate, childish, decadent and possibly doomed country.

I've learned to live with so much in the last 5 years. I've packed it away and got angry and fought back. But this just takes the stuffing right out of me.

I am 48. I am a truck driver. I am well acquainted with all kinds of rough opinions and talk-radio induced ignorance.

But this is new. I have never seen my country so low.

There are other John Gibsons out there - clearly.
But that such a man could get national media time in not one but TWO places to say these things is something new. Nothing in 48 years has prepared me for such a lowering of American ideals. John Gibson takes us right down to the level of animals.

To make JOKES of bombing millions of people. Jokes that ENCOURAGE it to happen.

And to wish it on France!!!! One of America's great friends of all time!! A country that recently has been better at living, and promoting to the world, the American ideals better than America itself!

I don't recognize my country anymore.

This is the real thing. We are truly changed. And now I'm over the edge. It will take me awhile to be able to think again that we can even recover.

It's always something small.........

of hitting the lottery for big money and buying a nice condo in Amsterdam. I was there for a week 10 years ago and loved the place.

73. it's not that hard really
I might tell you , that one of the great things about these lowlands is that you don't need to win the jackpot .If you get residency statute , which if i'm not mistaken is frigging easy , you can just move over .You get social benefits and universal health care as a resident .As for the prices of renting a place , It's not that expensive .
All you'll have to do is learn to speak dutch ....i had to do it , and after a while it gets easier .Now i'm fluent in most dialects , and i learned it ...just by speaking it .You don't need to speak dutch in reality , because most people , if not all ,speak fluent english , but because it'll facilitate getting a job and social and system integration .

But , and i know as an american this harder , because you don't get 7 weeks paid vacation , you should travel troughout europe , finding the exact right spot for you .If you like Amsterdam (for which there are exquisit reasons ) , you might also like Brussels ,although it has more of bohemian lifestyle .It's the hybrid between paris and amsterdam .

I wish you the best , and if you ever need information , I might be able to help .Or you could contact the consulates and see what they can do .

124. german is the complicated sister lanuage
dutch has a lot less rules , as it's a medieval language still .Also most americans who move over here , because of the oil comps and banks , eventually speak better dutch than some europeans who move around .Just because they try harder .

115. I see it.
And add that what you may feel also is not just the hatred and pain - but hatred and pain that was so easily stirred up out nothing! Nothing at all but empty hysteria whipped up by the leaders of what can only be classified as a cult. The neo-cons are cult group. As flakey, demented, ignorant, yet strident, confident and dangerous as any we have seen.

There will always be cult groups - but when do I wake up from the nightmare where one of them has actually seized power in my country?

93. It's a bugger , no doubt
But there's a difference in all of this , that is at the basis of something so grand and human .Justice , where you feel for all , where you are human of not just empathy but thought , the opposition which settles us with this woe is one of little thoughts .And their thought is one centered around that of temporal notions , while we , those who suffer from the injustice , in that we merely care , are much larger .We abide by hope , and by hope i mean the notion that all are equal , and that life is precious .When we say freedom , it is said worthy of those foundign fathers .To us freedom is not merely a nice bulettin point , to us it is a philosophical endeavor .And by being these humans engulfed in thought , we have one thing on our side stronger , than hope , justice , or any other of our humane beliefs .We have evolution on our side .We have situational awareness that adapts and understands the basic necessities of being as a society , and as a being not 'I' .

And thus my friend , even though we suffer in this a crapper of an age , we are in the end the cause of it turning out all right .Which as i said earlier , I am convinced it will .

Still , words are just that , so best of luck , and know you are never alone .And if anyone ever is alone ,humanity has lost life long before it ceases to exist

103. Why does Faux hate Britain so much?
Every word oozing out of their fungus-infected mouths since the London terror attacks has been to belittle the disaster. Let's recap:

Brian Kilmeade (yes, the guy who physically threatened Al Franken at a banquet): "Terrorism works to our advantage, because it helps bring us all together."

Brit Hume (yes, it's a rug): "My first thought was to buy futures while they were still low."

Gibson, obviously, doesn't give a rip about the war on terror unless it affects someone that Bush** has suckered in to the completely unrelated war in Iraq.

And finally, we have Simon Marks, who, darn his luck, would probably have qualified as a news anchor in apartheid-era South Africa: "So, it's a further indication, if in fact these attacks were carried out by Al Qaeda-affiliated cells, that these people are, if necessary, prepared to spill Arab blood in addition to the blood of regular -- of non-Arab people living in London.

"Regular" people? Please tell me he thinks that Arabs aren't getting enough Metamucil or something, because otherwise I have to live with the fact that an obscenely ugly bigot is spouting stuff straight off a KKK flyer and passing it off as "news". :grr:

I was a fox news channel watcher and want to let you know how disgusted I am with you now. I will no longer watch your channel or support your advertisers until this matter is settled.

Your recent coverage of the terrorist attacks in London by pretty much all of your anchors and shows are a complete and utter embarrassments to the United States, and a apology and some resignations are in order for your childish and uncalled for comments by your fox news anchors. Brit Hume, Brian Killmeade, John Gibson, Bill O'Rielly and some others just to name a few should all be made to apologize or should resign for their ignorance and arrogance.

Good example is what's his face Shephard Smith, this guy is a complete ass! He got outraged over nothing and forgot to read your own fox facts! This guys is a disgrace to you as well.

I will no longer watch Fox News or support you in any way as long as you keep this incompetent "news anchors" at your agency.

Till then Fox News Channel, you have lost a viewer along with many others.

Bill Kindle

110. What the hell do these turds think about?
Whether it's this guy Gibson...or any number of people with a microphone stuck in their face...they seem to want to bash the French. What's up with that? Sure they, the French, sometimes seem to have a bit of a chip on their shoulder, but they've have had about eight or ten centuries head start so what's the big deal. After all, their condescension is nothing compared to our ignorant arrogance. Regardless, the stupidity of those that want to blame France for simply trying to save us from ourselves when it came to this war, is too embarrassing to stand.

And as for Fox News, remember it's owned by a right wing Aussie that should never have been allowed into the country and, I hope, one day will be sent back...pennyless.
