Lucas County, Ohio: Perz resigns after 3 months as GOP chief, cites health

Sally Perz has quit as chairman of the Lucas County Republican Party after only three months at the helm. Ms. Perz, whose $2,000 contribution at a 2003 fund-raiser for the Bush-Cheney campaign has come under federal grand jury scrutiny, cited health as the reason for her resignation.

Ms. Perz, a former state representative from Toledo, was elected chairman April 6 to replace Bernadette Noe, who resigned in February.

Ms. Perz testified before a federal grand jury June 2. The grand jury is investigating whether Tom Noe, Mrs. Noe's husband and a former Lucas County GOP chairman, gave money to others for them to donate to the Bush-Cheney re-election effort and to circumvent federal campaign contribution limits.

"It saddens me, as chairman of the Republican Party, that we have to walk through this dark time," Ms. Perz said. One of Ms. Perz's tasks has been to try to straighten out the records of party contributions.

Same county that had the Dem Headquarters break in

The Lucas County Democratic Headquarters was burglarized overnight, and three computers, including the party’s main system, were stolen.

The computers contained highly sensitive information, including the party’s financial information, names and personal phone numbers of hundreds of party members, candidates, and volunteers.

The computers also stored e-mails from candidates that included discussion about campaign strategy

2. No family to spend time with? Hey Perz, your Party is as corrupt as it
could possibly be. Didn't you notice that over the last 30 years or so?

Since she, her husband, and daughter are all listed as having questionable donations to chimp..
So I wonder at what point the Ohio repukes will start to regret helping steal the election? When they are all locked up and chimp doesn't come to their rescue, maybe?? (note to Ohio repukes: remember chimp's 'Kenny boy vs Mr Lay'??)

Mr. Noe, who was one of several dozen Ohioans who helped to raise at least $100,000 each for the Bush campaign in the 2004 election, sponsored a table at the event, and invited a number of people to attend.

Among those whose donations have caught the attention of investigators are:

City Councilman Betty Shultz; former state representative Sally Perz, her husband, Joe, and her daughter, Allison; former county
elections director Joe Kidd; county Auditor Larry Kaczala and his wife, Gina; County Commissioner Maggie Thurber and her husband, Sam; and two of Mr. Noe’s co-workers at Vintage Coins and Collectibles, partner Tim Lapointe and executive assistant Susan Metzger. Mr. Lapointe’s wife, Linda, also donated.
Path of donations

At issue is whether Mr. Noe gave people money in order for them to give to the Bush campaign, allowing Mr. Noe to exceed federal spending limits, law-enforcement sources said. By law, Mr. Noe would have been unable to contribute at the fund-raiser because he had already made a $2,000 donation in August, 2003.
