He was getting hammered! I hope to find a transcript of it or video clip. David Corn made some great points, but David Gregory, from what I recall seems to have set it off.

12. Rove not only did it, but he led a conspiracy to do it!!!!
"I'm not so sure there was even a crime," says Fox News chucklehead.

It might have been inadvertant, but it was done knowingly and repeatedly, to 6 reporters with 3 followups. Who would coordinate such a leak campaign? Rove, naturally. At least two callers (one released a reporter and one didn't) also means coordination. (But, hell, if he made all 6 calls himself, that shows a deliberate and continual activity which belies any defense of ignorance.)

Plame, By Any Other Name

By Dan Froomkin
Special to washingtonpost.com
Monday, July 11, 2005; 1:21 PM

There is no longer any question that top presidential adviser Karl Rove is a key player in the Valerie Plame case.

In fact, what Rove told Time magazine reporter Matthew Cooper about Plame is apparently one of the last things special prosecutor Patrick J.Fitzgerald is trying to determine before he wraps up his investigation into whether Plame was illegally outed as a CIA agent.

Looks like the White House press corps decided to get out of the cold pool water to ask these questions. I am sure they will go back to shrinkage mode soon though.

BTW That question about Bill Clinton for supreme court justice was hilarious.

Vincardog. That's all I heard too. No comment. Ask the prosecutor. No comment. No comment until the investigation is over.

Reporter: Who asked you not to comment? The prosecutor? McClellan: You'll have to ask the prosecutor.

It was a very short news conference. When the reporters were all laughing at the end, I heard one of them say "It's not worth it".

38. This is from Think Progress; they may have the video
http://thinkprogress.org/2005/07/11/breaking-white-house-stonewalls-on-rove/

Finally, the White House press corps gets its act together.

Scott McClellan’s press briefing is beginning now (you can watch it live here) — but a reporter inside today’s untelevised press gaggle just shot us an email. Apparently Scottie was asked 5 different times about the Rove revelations, and 5 different times he said he “would not comment on an ongoing investigation.”

UPDATE: This press briefing is stunning. McClellan is refusing to say anything at all, not one word, about the Plame case. The reporters are outraged - NBC’s David Gregory just told McClellan that his stonewalling was “ridiculous.”

UPDATE II: McClellan’s line is that he will not comment on the investigation until the “appropriate time, which is when the investigation has concluded.” Actually, that’s not true — at all. The investigation began on September 28, 2003.

going on. I went to whitehouse.gov and they had the video posted. I clicked the link, RealPlayer started, then a location not found message. So I refreshed the whitehouse.gov page and got this.

"Today's Press Briefing with White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan has concluded. Video from the Press Briefing will be available on the web site shortly."

Why was it there one minute and not the next?
