Blooper from Smith (R- New Jersey) proposing weekend of prayer for Darfur
Edited on Mon Jul-11-05 01:26 PM by Sparkly
He referenced the opening prayer today, saying, "He who exalts himself shall be humbled, and he who humbles himself in prayer, shall be exhausted."

(Edited to explain: the correct quote was "shall be exalted.")

1. LOL! That's like my sister
when she was little (I was a baby then) she was attending church with my mom and when they got up to sing the hymn "We are Exalted." with their hand raised. My mom happened to glance down at my 2 or 3 year old sister and noticed that she was holding her hand in a Hitleresque style and singing "We are salty."

2. My wife's first boss told her that he, as a child,
used to finish his prayer at Mass with...

Me a cowboy.
Me a cowboy.
Me a Mexican cowboy.

4. Gee...I guess that Week-end prayer will do a lot for those dying in Darfur
You think God will hear? I heard that since all he heard coming from so many of the Republicans was "God Bless America", he decided to turn the volume from that frequentcy down.

5. The important thing is for us to be "exhausted."
That's better than actually DOing something to help over there. :sarcasm:
