the Rove thing: hey - the press got teeth

looky here - when one of their own gets tossed in jail - suddenly the press is snapping at the heels of the White House...

and it only took them a little over 3 years to do it!

today's papers are just chock full of indignant editorials about Rove - what did he know, when did he know it, how did he know it, who did he tell, and what did he tell them...

but they are all missing the BIG Story -- it's about the BIG LIE that they had gleefully and dutifuly "reported" back in 2002.

the big lie - "IRAQ - Saddam and WMDs" -- bush* was cherry picking and massaging information to justify invading Iraq. The press was complicite in spreading this lie -- they just sat their with their notebooks and transcribe every lie coming from bush*'s mouth.

Wilson-Plame and Rove is just one small area of the web of lies. To date we've been told 5 versions of why we had to invade Iraq:

1. We invaded because Iraq has WMDs
2. We invaded because Iraq was involved in 9-11
3. We invaded because Iraq has Al-Qeada/Bin-Laden connections
4. We invaded to liberate the Iraqi's
5. We invaded Iraq so we won't have to fight terrorists here

what we do know is:

1. Iraq had no WMDs
2. There is no connection between Iraq and 9/11
3. There is no connection between Iraq and Al-Qeada/Bin-laden
4. The Iraqi's don't want us there
5. Terrorists will still attack us here

This is the real story - WHY ARE WE IN IRAQ!? Rove's outing of Plame was an attempt to discredit Wilson - the implication being Wilson is not a real man because his wife got his the Niger assignment... And the press cheerfully joined the bush* choir in reporting this and ignored the LIES. AND they are still ignoring the LIES by focusing on just Rove.

It's bigger than Rove.

2. The president is a serial liar

He lied as a candidate, and the media covered up his miserable record and told lies about Gore. He lied when the SC awarded him the office and he said he would be a president for all of us, a uniter not a divider. He lied when he told us "they hated us for our freedom" and he lied when he said he has made us safer. He lied over and over to achieve his war in Iraq. They lied about centrifuges, UAVs, mobile biological weapons labs, and mushroom clouds. They lied about having lied, and blamed intelligence for misleading them.

And none of it could have been accomplished without the help of the media.

They have zero credibility. They are an administration of serial liars. If the public were a jury, they should be instructed that they do not have to believe any thing this witness says, now that he is a proven liar.
