Will Democrats give Rove a pass?
Has anyone heard anything from the democratic leadership? HAs Reid or Pelosi or Dean or CLinton or anyone really made a comment on the Rove leak? This is potentially the most important development to happen to us in a long time yet I don't know where they stand. (I probably just haven't looked hard enough) If you guys have any links post them here.

1. Perhaps they are standing back and assessing the situation to
see how it plays out so that they don't look like they are coming after Rove with torches and pitchforks.

2. Here you go!
With the White House silent, Democrats rushed in, demanding that the administration provide a full account of any involvement by Mr. Rove, one of the president's closest advisers, turning up the political heat in the case and leaving some Republicans worried about the possible effects on Mr. Bush's second-term agenda.

Senator Harry Reid of Nevada, the Democratic leader, cited Mr. Bush's statements about firing anyone involved in the leak and said, "I trust they will follow through on this pledge."

Senator Charles E. Schumer, Democrat of New York, said Mr. Rove, given his stature and the principles involved in the case, could not hide behind legal advice not to comment.

"The lesson of history for George Bush and Karl Rove is that the best way to help themselves is to bring out all the facts, on their own, quickly," Mr. Schumer said, citing the second-term scandals that have beset previous administrations.

4. There was a press conference today where Hillary and Kerry
called for Rove to be fired. Someone has a thread on it.

5. DNC had a big statement out yesterday, Kerry and Hillary asked
for Rove to be fired and tied it to national security (video is around here), many Senators have made statements, Waxmen has called for hearings....

No, they aren't sitting back.

6. Dean won't. He's already using it to drive a stake through Bush's support
on the "war on terror."

Here's Dean's official response to Rovegate
DNC: What Did Rove Know and When Did He Know It?
http://press.arrivenet.com/pol/article.php/666790.html>http://press.arrivenet.com/pol/article.php/666790.html

<SNIP>
"Karl Rove and his high priced lawyers might disagree, but the truth is Rove betrayed the identity of an undercover officer fighting on the front lines in the war on terror. These actions are particularly egregious in a time of war," said Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean. "President Bush should demonstrate his commitment to the war on terror by holding his own people accountable. It is disturbing that this high ranking Bush Advisor is not only still working in the White House, but now has a significant role in setting our National Security policy."
<SNIP>

The part I marked in bold above is the rhetorical stake being thrown at the American Vampire -- the Bush Admin. "War on Terror" is what the Bush Admin has based their power on and currently is the only spot on the public polls where Bush does well. Rove-gate if properly reported will break the dam of public support for Bush on that issue and if Bush loses support on that issue, Bush joins the Titanic at the bottom.

11. Interesting article but something worries me.....
Does that not seem a little strong wording this early in the potential downfall of Rove? I mean what if it turns out that Plame doesn't really fit in with the strict definition laid out in the law? Someone on another thread got me to turn on Limpballs today and at one point he started quoting from the original authors of the law that was broken and they said that Rove's actions did not amount to the law being broken due to Plame's circumstances? So really does this mean that Dean just gave the republicans fodder to use against him and us if this falls through?

17. Dean has a gift for prophecy
He was right when he said that capturing Saddam has not made us safer. I think our troops in Iraq and Londoners would agree with that.

Plame was an undercover CIA operative and it is coming to light that some of her assets or associates were murdered after her cover was blown. The Repukes are in major "damage control" mode and they will use whatever lies and distortions that they can manufacture to cover their butts.

19. calling for Rove's resignation isn't about the law being broken
that's the RNC spin...

Bush said he would fire anyone involved in leaking Plame's CIA status to the press. Rove is now exposed as having done just that.

Calling for Rove's resignation puts Bush in a hard place - it puts his credibility on the line. The Right Wing Sound Machine is trying to shift the field of play (as usual). Don't fall for it.

7. They gave Bush a free pass on Gannon & the DSM.
Sure, they mentioned them once or twice and "released" some statements on their websites, but they did not promote the DSMhearings or talk about these scandals too much on TV.

Dean mentioned the DSM mabey once out of several TV appearances, Kerry I dont think ever mentioned it on TV except on CSPAN during the afternoon, and Hillary basically pretends it does not exist.

Top DEMs with media access should be pounding all these things home, like the GOP does to us.

9. when your enemy is digging a hole...you let them keep on digging
then when the noise looks like it's dying down...you keep the thing in news cycle with your own additions of quotes demanding this "hunk of fat posing as a brain" is fired for his role in this affair.

13. thanks for the articles
Yes I know I am uninformed when it comes to this subject hence the request for info. I've learned that the best way to get a response from people on this forum is to make damn sure that your thread has some provocative comments that will get people talking...otherwise it just falls by the way side! But I don't think it is self-defeating, what is wrong with asking if the people that we helped get elected are taking any kind of stand on this? That isn't self defeating that is simply wanting to be well informed, which I might add you helped me and potentially many others achieve.

Hate America!! OOOOOOOKAAAAAAAAYYYY. What the hell is your porblem dude! Is this Karl Rove? Cuz that sounds like something he would say.

Liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers." Conservatives, he said, "saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and prepared for war." - Rove.

18. responding to your email.
See it seems to me that you don't understand how a loaded question works. When you say "why do you hate america?" you are assuming that the person has previously implied if not outright stated that they hate america. Yes that is a loaded question. The responder is implicitly required to respond to either the fact they hate america or will have to outright refute the initial statement. It's like the question "Have you stopped beating your wife yet?". When I ask "Will democrats give Rove a pass?" I'm merely asking about your opinion on a another group of people (the democratic leadership) and their future behavior (whether they will pursue the Rove leak or look to other issues to work on) you are given a much more open choice than "why do you hate america".

PS I really appreciated the snotty remark of assuming that because you can only respond in small short ambiguous statements you are somehow superior. You talk about enlightenment yet you do not allow someone to message you privately, as you did, in order to rebut or look for further clarification on what you say. How progressive.

Have you nagged your Dems today? Have you held THEIR feet to the fire so they, in turn, will hold the bad guys' feet to the fire?
