Wilson/Rove Research and Talking Points
* Once again, Republicans are liars and attempting to smear Ambassador Wilson and Valerie Plame
* Karl Rove disclosed United States secrets because he was in a snit that Ambassador Wilson didn't follow his man Bush like a zombie and repeat all the administration talking points that urged us to war in Iraq
* Per the report by the Senate Intelligence Committee, Vice President Cheney asked for additional information about reports that Iraq was attempting to purchase Uranium in Niger. The committee found that Ms. Plame wrote a letter recommending her husband, who had served in both Iraq and Niger for the foreign service and was deeply familiar with both countries and their administrations. Ambassador Wilson was selected for the trip by the CIA and dispatched to obtain the requested information.
* Since Cheney asked for the information, he was the direct cause of Wilson's trip to Niger
* Karl Rove has lied about his role in the disclosure of Valerie Plame's status with the CIA since the scandal broke in 2003
* Despite the fact that Government Investigators requested that every witness not discuss the case, they continued to comment that Karl Rove was not involved, which was subsequently proven to be a lie
* Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame contributed to both Republican and Democratic campaigns
* Cooper admitted that Rove was smearing Wilson by saying Wilson's statements were inaccurate
* Rove admits that Wilson said "In February 2002, I was informed by officials at the Central Intelligence Agency that Vice President Dick Cheney's office had questions about a particular intelligence report ... The agency officials asked if I would travel to Niger..." and did not lie, but Rove has enhanced this to mean that Wilson said Dick Cheney sent him to Niger.
* Ambassador Wilson's impression that Dick Cheney was the person who authorized his trip to Niger was given to him by Mr. Libby
* Cheney, despite having been Secretary of Defense during Gulf War I when Ambassador Wilson was himself stationed at the US Embassy in Iraq and played a very public role in shielding civilians from Saddam Hussein, says "I don't know Joe Wilson."
* Tenet countered the statements by other CIA officials in saying that Wilson's report about Niger was never circulated.
* Wilson denied that his wife sent him to Niger, but since she was a covert CIA operative well aware of the security requirements of her position with the government (unlike Rove himself), she may never have told him of her role in suggesting his name because it was classified. In addition, CIA officials have said she did not make the decision to send him, although she did contact him when the decision had been made.
* Because the Bush Administration was determined to go to war with Iraq, even the CIA became involved in the smear campaign against Ambassador Wilson
* Despite the fact that Ambassador Wilson's findings were found inconclusive at the time, the facts contained in his report were subsequently proven correct
* The United Nations and other respected sources found that the memos relied upon to conclude that Iraq was attempting to obtain Uranium in Niger were forgeries. In fact, at first glance, the State Department officials in Italy who examined them commented that they appeared forgeries at first glance.
* Rove admits that the only Senators to disagree with Ambassador Wilson's conclusions were Republicans with close ties to the White House
* Wilson endorsed John Kerry in October 2003 after the Bush Administration orchestrated a smear campaign against him and his wife, a covert CIA operative working on WMD
* Rove admits that the smear campaign made Wilson absolutely determined that Kerry should win the election and Wilson spent many hours working toward that goal
Send these talking points to every Republican and their media operatives who are still capable of reasoned thinking.
