Boston Herald getting all snarky with Dems...
What a crock:

"``The White House promised if anyone was involved in the Valerie Plame affair, they would no longer be in this administration,'' said Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.). ``I trust they will follow through on this pledge. If these allegations are true, this rises above politics and is about our national security.''

National security!

Joe Wilson's official biography on the Website of the Corporate & Public Strategy Advisory Group says, ``He is married to the former Valerie Plame.''

Rove insists he ``didn't know her name and didn't leak her name.'' The e-mails turned over by Time magazine confirm that. Rove told Time that reporter Matthew Cooper Wilson's wife ``apparently works'' for the CIA and that she was the one who authorized his trip to Niger - not higher-ups at the CIA or State.

What congressional Democrats also forget in their feeding frenzy is that the 1982 law, making it a crime to ``intentionally'' disclose the identity of a covert agent, also requires ``that the United States was taking affirmative measures to conceal such covert agent's intelligence relationship to the United States.''

At the time Valerie Plame was a desk jockey in Langley, Va.

Of all the bogus charges Democrats have thrown at Karl Rove, this one really takes the cake - oh, make that yellowcake."

OK, and where does it say on Wilson's biography that his wife works for the CIA? The CIA wasn't exactly advertising that Valerie Plame was NOC! Nor does her subsequent role at a desk DECLASSIFY her prior NOC work. Sounds like the Boston Herald has been regurgitating RNC talking points and needs to brush up on it's espionage law.

If Rove's actions were oh so innocent in all this, then why the freak has the Bush Administration been HIDING his involvement for the past 2 years?

2. "Desk Jockey?"
One minute she's a little desk jockey, the other she makes decisions on which people to send overseas on matters of national security. They better make up their minds!

6. Question...
Edited on Wed Jul-13-05 12:16 AM by katsy
Did Valerie Plame use her name while undercover?

Because stating he's married to the former Plame on his website doesn't disclose she worked for the CIA as an undercover agent.

Maybe I'm missing something.

On edit: NEVER MIND. I should have read the author's last line.

9. Gee, aren't they the credible source they were
when it was Kerry they were being snarky about?

Or as the guy from Common Dreams said, even a broken clock is right twice a day. How do we know this isn't one of those times?

You're correct, of course, that the key piece of information here is that Valerie Wilson/Plame works for the CIA, not that her maiden name is Plame.

Duh.

I have a sort of sad feeling that the reason that Rove's Mighty Wurlitzer works so well is that a depressingly large number of our nation's vaunted fourth estate really aren't all that bright.

13. Someone Should Remind That Idiotic Paper That The CIA Itself
asked for a CRIMINAL investigation of this because they felt that Valerie Plame was indeed a covert agent!

They know her status and her history best. If the CIA is complaining, why are the Democrats "foolish" for listening to their concerns?

15. guess that's the BushCo line on this one . . .
depends on what the meaning of "intentional" is . . .

expect to see it regularly (i.e. over, and over, and over, and over again) in the coming weeks . . . the memos have apparently been received . . .
