This is posted over at FR and comes from an email being circulated by an RNC Committeewoman.

It's the usual distract, distract, distract by attacking both Wilson and Plame again. Don't get caught up with the validity of the points. The answer to every single point is "Rove outed a CIA undercover agent working on the search for WMD's. None of this excuses blowing this agent's cover and endangering others working on the search for WMD's."

Keep your eyes on the prize.

3. Oooh...Can I play too?
- The Democrats Are Engaging In Blatant Partisan Political Attacks.

It's called "returning fire."

- Karl Rove Discouraged A Reporter From Writing A False Story Based On A False Premise.

And, in the process, made what was either a heinous mistake, or a calculated act of reprisal.

- The False Premise Was Joe Wilson’s Allegation That The Vice President Sent Him To Niger And That His Report Was Shown To The Vice President.

Why didn't he just say "if you print that, it would be a lie."

- The Senate Select Committee On Intelligence Confirmed That Rove Was Right And Wilson Was Wrong: The Vice President Didn’t Send Wilson Anywhere.

Wilson was sent on orders by the Vice President...passed along the chain of command. Cheney didn't have to know who went in order to make the initial suggestion.

- Both The Senate Select Committee On Intelligence And The CIA Found Claims Wilson Has Made To Be Inaccurate.

Which CIA? The one in the basement or the one willing to stand up under scrutiny?

- Karl Rove Has Fully Cooperated With This Investigation For More Than A Year And Has Permitted Any Reporter He Spoke With About Joe Wilson To Discuss Their Conversations.

Which explains why he hasn't shown himself long enough to say that he can't say anything about it.

- Government Investigators Have Specifically Asked Every Witness In This Case, Including Karl Rove, Not To Discuss The Subject Matter Of The Investigation.

See above.

5. Precisely who sent Wilson to Niger
was relevant only from a political point of view, only to protect Cheney from the accusation that he did something that embarrassed the White House by sending Wilson to Niger. Just who sent Wilson to Niger is irrelevant as to whehter Wilson's statements discrediting the Niger yellow cake story were true. And the whole point of Wilson's statements regarding the Niger yellow cake story was to point out the lies of the Bush administration.

Wilson was not necessarily lying when he said Cheney sent him to Niger. Wilson may have believed that Cheney sent him. He may even have been told that by the CIA, or someone at the CIA may have caused him to believe that he was sent by Cheney. If Rove wanted to make clear that that small fact was wrong, as someone pointed out above, Rove could have simply said that Cheney did not send Wilson. A simple statement that Cheney did not send Wilson would have been far more effective than Rove's statement that Wilson was sent by the CIA, but not by Cheney.

Rove gave too much information. Had he been less informative in his report to the news media, he would have achieved much more. Rove is actually pretty smart about these things, so it would seem unlikely that he would leak Plame's identity as an under cover agent to the press inadvertently. Rove did not need to mention her at all. That is why it appears so likely that he outed Plame out of spite rather than the need to clear Cheney's name.

I'd like to compare the facts in this case involving the statute regarding outing under cover agents with the story in which the employee outed CIA agents to her boyfriend. Does anyone have a good link to the details of that story?
