What penalty does treason in time of war carry?
If you were on the jury, would you sentence Rove to that?

1. I'd never condone the death penalty for anyone under any reason.
Rove should, however, spend the rest of his miserable existence rotting in prison, preferably next to Bush and Osama (if we ever catch him :x)

5. I'm also opposed to the death penalty
But somehow the thought in connection with the Bush gang is amusing.

2. A trial would be amusing
To watch Rove's lawyers argue that we weren't really at war, even though RoveCo kept saying we were.

8. although I'm a through-and-through death penalty opponent....
...I sometimes feel there should be a provision for taking assholes like Rove to the public square, there to be slapped up.

9. Is there a Federal Statute that determines penalty for treason in wartime?
If it's a law written in stone by bureaucrats, there is nothing we can do but uphold the law.

11. no
the technicality is that he didn't commit treason, and it makes us all look really silly to keep asserting so.

12. Well the last execution during a war was Pvt. Eddie Slovak in 1945...
firing squad. We did the Rosenburgs in the 50's by using "old Sparkey" for betraying and spying for the Soviets.
