NYT reports today Mrs. Wilson denies she suggested sending her husband
Edited on Wed Jul-13-05 08:34 AM by flpoljunkie
The entire contretemps at the White House this week centers on whether Mr. Rove tried to discredit Mr. Wilson by suggesting that his mission to Niger was the product of nepotism, and that Ms. Wilson had arranged for it. Why a mission to Niger would be such a plum assignment is still a mystery, but the Senate Intelligence Committee, in a report last year, quotes a State Department official as saying that Ms. Wilson had suggested sending her husband. She denies it.

_______________

State Department Official, eh? Wasn't John Bolton with the State Department, as Undersecretary for Arms Control--not to accuse the man without any proof, of course...

Indeed he was...

John R. Bolton
UN Ambassador-designate
Undersecretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Affairs (2001-2005)

1. And we thought Bolton...
wasn't good for anything. He certainly seems to keep himself useful to Bush.

2. His paycheck came for the Dept of State?
If yes, who did he report to?
Armitage?
Powell?

I hope this is an opportunity to take care of one detail.

Mr. Bolton has zero credibility with most people except Victoria Toensing, Joe DeGenova, AEI, PNAC, RNC, and all the support battalions, especially the media battalions.

3. Wasn't Plame in the proliferation area?
Wouldn't Bolton have known her name? And isn't Bolton just the type of fix-the-intel loyal political hack that would spread her identity around?

5. Indeed, she was. Excerpts from Kevin, Drum, Washington Monthly...
Edited on Wed Jul-13-05 08:43 AM by flpoljunkie
Washington Post:

She is a case officer in the CIA's clandestine service and works as an analyst on weapons of mass destruction. Novak published her maiden name, Plame, which she had used overseas and has not been using publicly. Intelligence sources said top officials at the agency were very concerned about the disclosure because it could allow foreign intelligence services to track down some of her former contacts and lead to the exposure of agents.

New York Times:

The syndicated columnist Robert Novak, citing "two senior administration officials," wrote in July that Ms. Plame was an undercover operative for the Central Intelligence Agency specializing in weapons of mass destruction.

4. Another reporter falls in line
Mr. Bush was asked in June 2004 whether he would fire anyone who leaked Ms. Wilson's name. Without hesitation, he said "yes." But if Ms. Wilson was discussed - but not named - current and former White House officials say Mr. Bush may not feel he is violating his pledge ...

You have *got* to be kidding me. Another reporter offering this talking point up without highlighting it for the sham that it is.

6. Joe Wilson a liar? And a list of questions we need answers to.
Edited on Wed Jul-13-05 08:39 AM by higher class
He doesn't appear to be the type to take a lying risk. He doesn't have the arrogance of the operative right wing.

I'm glad she has spoken.

We have to hear from Tenet or the Deputy under him that took over between Tenet and Goss.

In what meeting did they decide to prove or disprove the documents that everyone now concludes were false (in which we have the hand of Israel, Italy, and the UK?).

In what meeting did they discuss sending someone to Niger?

Who was in attendance?

If Plame, did she suggest Jow Wilson.

Why does the right wing claim that he wasn't qualified.

Was Cheney involved in pushing the CIA to prove the yellowcake. What were his orders. Wasn't the CIA that Cheney went to repeatedly during this period. Can he say in court that he was trying to disprove the yellowcake? Or prove the yellowcake?

Who wrote their signature on the order for Wilson to go.

Who advanced the expense money? (He claims he did it pro bono with only expenses covered).

Who authorized the trip? Was it more than one person?

What is the usual authorizing procedure for a mission such as this?

To whom was his report sent to - directly AND by copy.

Who was in the meeting when Joe WIlson debriefed the interested parties? Who was there?

Was there a meeting between the CIA and the WH to discuss the findings? Who was in attendance.

Was the Pentagon in on any of this?

What was the exact role of the State Dept involvement.

7. Your Q's cover it, but * should have done the vestigatn for us. The big Q
for US is WHY DIDN'T BUSH DO THIS INQUIRY LONG AGO, AND THE HAVE ASHCROFT tell us what went on! Because the WH is so full of criminal activity they FEAR ANY LIGHT. This is, as many are now saying, a major crime syndacate, and they're operating with MOB RULES, complete with soldiers, "hits", cover up, money laundering, bought politicians and crooked cops!

8. I love the last line of that article...
"A former official who has worked for Mr. Bush said: 'This president is Mr. Alamo. He sees the hordes coming over the hill and he heads for the barricades. And not to raise a white flag.'"

I my recollection of history serves me correctly: The "good guys" at the Alamo were all killed.

I hope Bush does hold on to his ties with Rove--so that when Rove goes to jail, impeachment will follow.
