I see these fucking ribbons on trucks and SUVs that make the small men of our country look big. I was staring at one of these stickers, and I am trying to figure out if that is really true. So Poll Question is:

Americans put every conflict into a simplistic "defending our freedom" mind set. The truth is, our freedom really hasn't been threatened since the Revolutionary War. The War of 1812 was a sucker punch by Napoleon, to embroil the U.S. and Britain in an unnecessary war, to distract Britain from the war against France. The Mexican War was a war of conquest. The Civil War could have been avoided with diplomacy. Spanish American War, land grab. World War 1, World War 2, debatable. Korea and Vietnam, geopolitics. And on it goes. Even retired Marine General Smedley Butler stated in the 1930's, that war is a racket, and is only justifiable if, and when, it becomes necessary to protect our own shores from invasion. But the politicians always brainwash us into thinking that poor little defenseless America, is constantly having its freedom threatened. What a fucking crock.

But seriously, in a sense, it isn't free - it cost this country multiple wars and a lot of thought and planning, and it's costing us today a lot of effort to bring it back to the US in spite of the fascists.

7. If Freedom was Free...

I'd be out in my garden, reading a good book, or watching the Food Channel right now instead of keeping up with all I need to be informed about, and taking action to make sure that there will be freedom for my kids and grandkids tomorrow. You just know if we turn our backs on thee bastards for a second, we'll lose it forever.

So, no... freedom is NOT free... but I don't mean it in a "ribbon sticker on an SUV" sort of way.
