NEWSMAX REPORTS SANTORUM IS TRAILING CHALLENGER
Those Newsmax Freepers are such ostriches. There is zero mention of the Karl Rove debacle on their web page - as of this very moment. I guess if you are a Freeper, you believe that if you ignore it, it will go away. I hope Santorum gets booted out of the senate. But my biggest fear is that Bush will make him a Supreme Court justice or the Attorney General (Like he rewarded Ashcroft when he lost to a deceased opponent)

Santorum Trailing Challenger Casey - Poll

Sixteen months before they potentially could square off in Pennsylvania's next U.S. Senate election, Republican incumbent Rick Santorum still trails Democratic hopeful Robert P. Casey Jr., according to a new poll.

The Quinnipiac University poll of 1,639 Pennsylvania voters showed Casey, the state treasurer, leading the second-term senator 50 percent to 39 percent - reflecting a tightening from Casey's 49-35 percent lead in an April survey by the same pollster.

:woohoo:

3. I would love to see him go down, but it is WAY WAY early
The RW Slime Machine is 6-8 months away from getting in gear on this, and other, key Senate races. They're probably already putting together "Pro Life Democrats for Truth" or something like that.

In politics, 16 months is an eternity.

4. Pennsylvania can be an odd state politically.
James Carville once described Pennsylvania as "Philadelphia in the east, Pittsburgh in the west, and Alabama in the middle."

Even Ed Rendell, who got 53.6% of the vote in '02, only won 18 counties - counties which were all either on the eastern or western side of the state. In the middle of the state, he lost every county.

The key to a Santorum victory is to get out those "Alabama" voters in the middle on Election Day. That's no problem for Santorum; barring some major screw-up on his part in the next 16 months, he's unlikely to lose their support.

The key to a Democratic victory is to win in the east and the west (a pretty easy task) and to siphon some support from the less heavily Republican counties.
