Getting Rove fired keeps Bush hired. The hell with Rove. It's Bush I want!
With all this attention towards Rove, Bush is getting a nice little break from many of the whispers of impeachment about himself, and any DSM momentum is fizzling out like a pricked balloon. I'd love to see Karl Rove go down, but it's almost as if this latest Rove fiasco is timed perfectly to make everyone forget who the real bad guy is.

Fuck Rove. I want Numero Uno. Bush should be the main focus, with Karl Rove as an afterthought.

I love how our "brave" Democratic leaders can demand for Rove's firing and say the actual words to the media, but when it comes to the head criminal, George Walker Bush, they pussyfoot around.

I can just imagine Bush saying to Rove:

"Karl, we're both in serious trouble, but if you take the fall for me, I'll make sure you don't go to jail. You'll live the remainder of your life freely, and my ratings will rise tremendously if I fire you. Wadda you think, Boss?"

1. Absolutely, Rove is taking the hits to save Bush's ass.
Ask the big question:

What did the President know and when did he know it?

My theory is that this was Bush's idea from the get go.

12. Maybe so, but...
How much foresight does Bush really have? His ever-changing explanations for Iraq indicates that he has no grasp on the way Congress (the Democratic part, anyway) and the American public would respond to ever-worsening events. In fact, the only person (AFAIK) who's gotten him closer to seeing that is Rove, and clearly Rove got a little too secure with all the Bush-sheep running around. Rove goes, Bush is even more stuck, and he's already taking heat for his antics (not just from bloggers). People aren't giving Bush a break. The impeachment movement is gathering speed, and his numbers are still dropping. Both Bush and Rove are in trouble.

Yup. Not to mention the fact that KKKarl, even if he "resigns", can still
run the country into the ground via the receiver running up Shrub's
wee suitcoats.

4. I disagree...
bringing down rove does not mean it all ends...it could also be the first domino. He is very important to the chimp's climb to power, and they are setting it up for the chimp himself, to let him go. It also brings all the lies to go to war, so this is a good thing.

Does a crumpling bush make a sound in the WH if there's no one to hear it?

6. IMO: Get Rove out the house of cards will tumble
I think that Rove is the card holding up the entire regime. If we can get him out of there, Cheney will be left to control bu$h all by himself and he can't do it alone.
So get Rove out and watch the folly begin.

7. That could be, but think about this....
Bush fires Rove..

He's perceived as "doing the right thing."

His ratings climb out of sight.

Everyone lives happily ever after. The End.

Now, I don't mind going after Rove. I'd love for that rubber-faced prick to go down, but I only want it to happen if Bush is mentioned ALONG with Rove in any impeachment talks.

16. Or better yet...
Rove gets fired AGAINST his will and sings like a canary about Bush. In a perfect world, maybe.

Regardless, this is like a chess match, folks!

At the very least, I suppose this is one of those rare moments in the sun for Democrats. We've kind of got them boxed into a corner trying to figure out which move to make that's the lesser of two evils for them. If they (Bush) don't force Rove out, it keeps them on the hot seat and ratings will drop even lower. If Rove is fired, then at least there's some satisfaction for us and it makes their black eye swell even further.

I wonder if Democrats really want Rove fired. In a way, I think they may be ACTING so vehemently like they want him fired just to insure that Bush WON'T fire him....thus opening the door to go after Bush himself for NOT firing Rove. Hard one to call.

Are we just taking out a pawn, or is this check?

9. Are Fitzgerald and the grand jurors even remotely
interested in whether firing Rove solves *'s political problems?

Methinks they have been entirely occupied with other matters.

10. My Momma used to say,,,,,
"You are judged by the company you keep"

I think she was right,,,,,

If Rove goes down, it makes them all look bad.

A chink in the armor.

Personally, I hope Bush doesn't fire him too soon ~~ I want an indictment to happen. It would be most appropriate for the White House Deputy Chief of Staff to be doing his job from behind bars!!!

14. That saying applies even moreso in this case because
the entire Pub Party has promoted the idea that Rove is their greatest strategist and they have been so successful BECAUSE of Rove's directions!

He's not only Shrub's buddy, he's been promoted as leading the entire Party strategy!

11. I'd settle for Cheney, for now.
That would be a huge blow, and a possible precursor to bigger and better things, like Agnew's resignation.

13. One step at a time. My question is if Rove does get fired
will he really be fired or just working the levers behind the curtain from an another office location?

15. Probably still be working levers, BUT the black cloud over the
entire Party would be devastating to them! That can't be made to go away with a few diversions.
