RoveGate does NOT spell defeat for the Republicans - Act Now!
RoveGate does not guarantee defeat for Republicans in 2006. No matter how deep this goes, the Democrats need to do more than sit on the sidelines and shout out calls for Rove's dismissal. Part of the GOP talking points is that it's a distraction engineered by the Democrats because they have no plan on national issues. This tactic WILL work, because the Democrats still have no plan, and if they do, nobody has heard it.

So act now.

Write your national representatives and write the DNC. Tell them to get together, cuss and discuss, and then solidify and unify their plans on

1. Social Security.
2. Iraq.
3. Terror.
4. Economic woes.
5. Energy.
6. Education.

It will do NO good to complain about how Bush's policies stink if Democrats don't have a clear AND ARTICULATED plan of their own - which is something they should have learned from 2004. And articulation requires them going on TV and stating their plan - over and over and over again - in GOP style repetition.

And if justice has any chance of finding the White House over the lies about Iraq and RoveGate, we need to have Congress, or at the very least the Senate, controlled by the opposition party after November 2006. Just imagine it.

Write your letter now. And then another one next week. Then another the week after that. And another, and another. Call them up. "What is your plan to address the losing battle in Iraq and the increase in global terrorism? You don't have one, you say? Well then get up off your ass and figure it out!"

1. Or you could do this:
Write the media and ask them to cover the democratic plans instead of pretending there aren't any.

Welcome to DU, btw. :-)

If the Dems aren't on the media explaining their plans in the first place, then why would the media report their plan?

The GOP manages to get their message across all the time, even on non-foxed media, because they cleverly articulate it no matter the subject.

So when a Democrat is asked about Rove, instead of just "he should be fired," they need to say "he should be fired immediately so we can move on and continue to address the problems of this nation. We, the Democrats, have been trying to push our agenda of reducing the national debt by closing corporate tax loopholes, reducing unnecessary defense spending that adds nothing to our security, and rolling back some of the enormous tax cuts on the super rich that have not stimluated the economy as the Bush administration suggests."

Writing John Gibson of Fox News and whining about how he doesn't promote the Democratic plan on Social Security will do about as much good as, well, trying to get Fox News to be fair and balanced.

"Once again, Karl Rove is going back to the most reliable of his cynical political attacks: dividing the country over the war on terror. Americans deserve more than this kind of outrageous cheap trick. Unfortunately, given the miserable failures of Bush's foreign policy, its no wonder Rove would launch this desperate attempt to deflect from the real issues and distort what Democrats say than admit what Republicans have done.

"Since September 11, 2001, Democrats have been urging the Bush administration to prioritize equipping our troops to win the war on terror, capturing Osama bin Laden and securing the homeland. So, it's no surprise that Rove's comment highlighted the Republicans' rhetoric and not their record."

Write to the media and ask them to give it wider coverage. The words are being said, the media is choosing to focus on other things.
