It is important on its own but it is more important in the bigger picture. Why did Rove go after Wilson? Because Wilson was exposing the lies that were leading us into a war. Wilson was not successful because we went to war on the lies anyway.

Yes, Rove lied. Novak was used to help destroy the credibility of Joe Wilson and his wife, Valerie Plame. Why? Because the White House was on a propaganda crusade to convince America and the world that Saddam had WMDs and aluminum tubes and was getting "yellowcake" from Africa and when we saw the "mushroom" clouds, it would be too late. Remember? That is the big story behind this subplot with Karl Rove.

So we went to war on lies and look where we are at this moment. Almost 1800 troops have now dies and 12,000 injured, many very severely, and more than 100,000 Iraqis dead. On an unnecessary war. On lies and propaganda. Let's keep Karl Rove in the proper focus.
