It's bound to happen. Right now, they're busy discrediting Joe Wilson. But that can only go for so long. No matter how much they spin, there's an investigation going on. 99% of the country could believe the pro-Rove spin, but when indictments come down, it changes everything.

The RWNM is bound to go after Fitzgerald at some point, but when?

Fitz is only an overly agressive prosecutor chasing after innocent people for political reasons.

From what I can tell, Fitz is going to be pretty difficult to damage. He's got a pretty impressive history.

I read an article somewhere this past week that commented on how 'strange' Fitzgerald is... how he has 'old socks in his desk drawer'... I read it, and the first thing I thought of was, "Gee, Rove is getting a little SLOW in his smear attacks!"

Don't worry, I'm sure we'll hear lots more about his 'weirdness' and how he's unfit to even be a prosecutor, let alone investigate this 'Holy White House' which is filled with such righteous Christian men... (choke)

I read somewhere that early in his career he admitted to a reporter that he wasn't religious at all. But it seems that now he goes to Methodist church like the Chimp, because it's the Republican thing to do.

As the grand jury starts winding down, little smear stories will start popping up -- little anecdotes about how Fitzgerald's son was once caught using marijuana or how his wife once wrote a $100 check for a local Democratic candidate, for instance -- and the wingnut talking-heads will begin laying the groundwork against him by beginning to publicly question his sincerity and his patriotism. The attacks will begin in earnest when the indictments come down (or at least when someone inside Rove's office gets wind that indictments are on their way). By the time the right wing smear machine gets done, they will be claiming that Fitzgerald is actually a covert agent working for rogue terrorist mastermind Valerie Plame to destroy the president.
