Wolf Blitzer on Rove
Edited on Fri Jul-15-05 04:38 PM by magnolia
Great show today. He had on two attorneys...both agreed on the seriousness of this case.

Pointed out the danger of outing a covert agent...not just of the agent, but it has a far-reaching effect on contacts, companies, co-workers. Lives are at risk.

This case could be about perjury or obstruction of justice. Compared it to Martha Stewart. Which would be just as serious.

If the prosecutor says Rove is not a target...that's like a one day train ticket. It may be the case today, but not necessarily tomorrow.

Worth watching or getting a transcript.

1. Wolf has been acting like a journalist the last couple of days then -
Yesterday he mentioned Shinseki to Feith and followed up when Feith started dissembling and calling him out on not answering the question of why so few troops were deployed for the occupation. I'm surprised he isn't back to reading the GOP blast fax of the day yet. Good.

2. I'm actually getting the feeling
that complicit media whores -- who have until now been interested in furthering their careers by currying favor among powerful politicians by licking asses -- might actually be sensing that the "journalist" who busts this story open the quickest or gets the best scoop on it will garner far more in fame and fortune by being the "new Woodward."

6. I hope your right...
I don't care what their motives are. I just would like to turn on the news and get something resembling the truth.

8. I think you're right,,,, plus,,,,,
The journalists all have been witness to what happens when a story is wrong or incomplete or not provable,,,,, so they will surely be dotting those "i's" and crossing those "t's",,,,,

10. I've always said..
... that when the tipping point in the media comes, it will come quickly and most will follow.

Sure, there are producers/managers/etc who are pro-Bush. But mostly the media is pro-cash.

FOX made a name for themselves by telling the American public WHAT THEY WANTED TO HEAR.

Well guess what. The American public is sick of this administration's inability to get ANYTHING right. They don't want to hear the happy-talk any more. The American public is a fickle beast, and they are turning on the Bush** regime in droves.

Media whores who want to keep getting paid have to learn new tricks. Last year everyone wanted oral, now they want something else. They are whores, they will comply.

7. When Blitzer was on the Daily Show
that was the first time I denoted that the guy may actually have a rudimentary sense of humor...Almost stunned me :)

9. The name "Wolf Blitzer" still sounds like a rabid reindeer to me
Though I am pleasantly surprised to see that at least one tiny percentage of his person might actually be journalistic. Let's hope this continues.

"Wolf Blitzer. A man who was invented for the war" - SNL years ago

Okay, I didn't paraphrase it right, but it's what I think of every time I see him. I think it was from a SNL for the Gulf War, but not sure. Anybody remember?

12. Since he is really 'Leslie Blitzer',
I'm guessing the 'Leslie' part of him must be the real journalist. ;) I think 'Wolf' must be wishful thinking. Or something.

It really was a good show today. I don't watch him, but I was channel surfing and one of the lawyers was talking. I was drawn in before I even realized what channel and show I had on. It about floored me when I saw it was CNN and Blitzer!

14. O'Donnell says Rove is a subject. Definitely more serious than "witness".
In fact, when a subject appears before the Grand Jury they are read their rights after taking the oath.
