Rove. Not necessarily because he beleives Rove is guilty or necessarily committed a crime, but because of appearances. A good Commander in Chief would have to act in this manner because he would want the american public to know that he take this serious investigation seriously. It's not about having confidence in anybody.

That's a red herring. It's about putting the United States first over any one man. Karl Rove being a loyal government servant knowing he serves only at the pleasure of the President would understand the president position.

But even before the president had to act. A man who truly care about him would have walked into the president's office and said. Sir, this is too much of an abstraction for your presidency. With or without your consent sir I feel it's in the best interest of the country and you that I resign or at the very least take a leave of absense until the end of this investigation. Whichever is your pleasure.

But then again I have watch every season of 24......

I don't think she'd stand torture--I mean, perfectly legal interrogation techniques--very well. Surely we'd get good, usable information from her and find out the Truth once and for all.

You know, he and people of the pro-torture camp make a powerful point: other countries do it all the time. He mentioned France in Algeria. (Of course he didn't mention the 900,000 to 1,000,000+ people that France exterminated over there.) But we ARE at war and this IS a question involving deliberate breaches of national security.

Where are those pro-torture people on the right now? Don't they want to get to the bottom of this as quickly as possible so our national security can be assured?

I find the use of torture totally repulsive and inimical to the idea of civilization, but I am deeply puzzled by the silence of those voices who seemed so enamored of it just 12, 18, or 24 months ago. They seemed to have the upper hand then, but now they've slinked away.
