Conservatives and Progressives..
both dislike the media. Isn't this a good thing? Doesn't that show that the media is pretty balanced?

2. Repubs have always done a great job
convincing everyone that the media is liberally biased.
the media is coporate owned -why the fuck would it be liberal? That's just assinine.

We need to frame the debate differently.

We should do our best to convince the people of this country that the media is biased for conservatives and that they are taking it easy on Bush when in fact there are all kinds of questions of corruption surrounding his administration.

4. I don't think so.
Take a look at overall balance. What this white house admin has gotten away with compared with what every other administration has gotten away with. They hounded Clinton, yet repukes think he got off easy by the "liberal media". Meanwhile we're near apoplectic about how much * is getting away with, the free passes being given by the media, yet they still perpetuate a view of victimization.

CONFESSION:
I used to be conservative. What woke me up was the relentless HOUNDING of Clinton. I believed that a person's private life was just that, private. The media and the right wing let me see how low these people would stoop just to gain an upper hand. I strongly doubt anyone is liberal and is going to "wake up" and realize that * is being treated unfairly, the media is liberal, and the Dems would do anything to win. These things are just not true.

5. What do you get when you put hot coffee and ice cream in a thermos?
Some things aren't meant to mix and you end up with a mess.

6. I think that there are some Conservatives who really feel that...
the press is liberal. However, I think that there are a lot more Conservatives who just use this as an excuse to discount anything that the press says that is against B*. In essence, if the press says something that favors the B* administration, then they say that the press is telling the truth. If the press says anything negative against the administration (even when actually true), they use their old stand-by that the press is liberal. It's another example of their excellent ability to frame things in their favor. :(

7. A lot of the media personalities are Democrats,
but first they are salesmen. They report stories people will like and want to watch. Especially in this day and age of terror alerts, people want to hear patriotic, jingoistic aphorisms, not what is really happening.

Nevertheless, people are still mesmerized by the ubiquitous so-called liberal media. I have seen "stories about what you don't see from the liberal media" circled and forwarded ad nauseum, depicting things I actually *have* seen in the "liberal MSM". You don't hear the other sides of some of these stories, though.

8. Hi, Patrick_Star. Welcome to DU!
I have also seen what you describe. The "corporate media" (AKA MSM) first and foremost must make money, and they'll do whatever they have to do to accomplish this.

:hi:
