McClellan Recuperating From Shark Attack?
Washington - After a week of refusing to answer numerous legitimate questions about White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove's involvement in the potentially illegal outing of a CIA agent, and jokingly comparing those briefings to a shark attack, White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan has not held a public briefing in two days.
"After three days swimming in the shark-infested waters of the White House briefing room earlier this week, it looks like McClellan is 'once bitten, twice shy,'" said Democratic National Committee spokesperson Josh Earnest. "Given his attempts to keep his head above water this week, it's no surprise he's unwilling to take a proverbial dip in the White House traveling press 'pool.'"
The last time the White House went two weekdays in a row without a gaggle or briefing was more than 3 months ago - while President Bush was in Rome attending the Pope's funeral.
