3. I believe that you can impeach any government official |

and the law states that a President can not pardon anyone who has been impeached. That would be the way to go with some of these criminals. We shouldn't just let them resign in disgrace.

Calling this <whatevernameyoucanthinkof>gate simply and completely trivializes it.
To use the victim's name revictimizes.
Can we find another way to refer to this?
Like maybe 'the latest of the white house's crimes'?
