I may be way off, but my hunch is that Santorum is trying to get mileage by stringing this story along....

Santorum is a conservative orthodox Catholic. The late Pope said if you're gay and celibate, you're not evil.

I think Ricky will string this along and when challenged on his duplicity, it will "come out" that the communications director is a good, God-fearing celibate homosexual, so why all the outrage?

I just don't think it's as straightforward as "Santorum has a gay communications director."

Personally, we at DU have no problem with gays or blacks or combinations thereof. We just don't understand why they would want to belong to the Republican party which is so full of racists and homophobes (not the whole party of course but a considerable number) and sponsors so much hateful legislation.
