Democrat appointed to hear Hagan Civil Case in Cleveland

Columbus- Ohio Supreme Court Chief Justice Thomas Moyer has selected a retired Democratic judge to hear a lawsuit alleging corruption in the state Republican Party.

Joseph Kainrad will hear the lawsuit filed last August by Cuyahoga County Commissioner Timothy Hagan, who was the Democratic nominee for governor in 2002.

Moyer disqualified all 34 judges on Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court - all but three of whom are Democrats - from handling the case, over the objection of the court's chief judge, Republican Richard McMonagle.

I hate to say I told you so.........

But I told you this had more to do with the conflict of interest than disqualifying Judges because they were democrats......

However, it was still a marvelous political play o the part of Hagan and his attorney Ken Seminitore. They were ale to draw attention to a lawsuit that will be difficult to win but will garner a tremendous amount of attention here in Democratically rich North EAst Ohio....

Sure, it's good to get all riled up, but if you can difuse something and move on to more important things, then that good...

BTW, after 20 years in the trenches of partisan warfare, I would say that politicians are like most people, some are devious and cunning, some are cunning, and some are devious... But most just go about thier business and let things happen because of ineptidude or ignorance.....

Columbus- The same five Ohio Supreme Court justices who stepped aside from hearing lawsuits tied to the state's rare-coin investments say they will not recuse themselves from a related case.

The new case, filed on behalf of Democratic State Sen. Marc Dann, seeks to force Gov. Bob Taft to sit for a deposition, and the suit argues for the release of government memos that could document when the governor and his appointees knew of investment losses at the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation.

Records show that some appointees knew of the losses last September and October, but Taft has said he did not become aware of them until June.

He has refused to release additional records, saying they are protected by executive order. The lawsuit asks justices to decide whether such an exemption exists...

4. I know nothing about this judge but some people that have a D in front

of their name have it there only for appearance sake. They believe none of the Democratic Principles. People such as Zell Miller for instance. Would we applaud Zell Miller for investigating a Republican? Not that a judge should even have a partisan title such as Democrat or Republican. In the state I live in when a judge is on the ballot there is no political designation for them.
