A Clean Sweep
"I would like this to end as quickly as possible so we know the facts. And if someone committed a crime, they will no longer work in my administration."
George W. Bush
Remarks to Reporters

But then who's going to answer the phones?
"Update 2:25 pm ET: It is instructive to compare Bush's current employment standard to his old one:
"The president has set high standards, the highest of standards, for people in his administration. He's made it very clear to people in his administration that he expects them to adhere to the highest standards of conduct."
Scott McClellan
Press Briefing

Apparently, "highest standards" now means not having a felony conviction on your wrap sheet. We already know DWI isn't a problem, so misdemeanors must be OK.
If Karl is convicted, and Bush gives him a pardon, would that count? Maybe it's in the employee handbook."
My comment: Check out "When Scandals Collide" on the same page. A good read.
