All day long..."Bush will fire someone if convicted of a crime". Up from just someone responsible for the leak. Do you think they have someone on the inside. Or do you think they are just getting together and comparing testimonies and figure that they can't be nailed?

I just find it hard to believe that after all they have gotten away with, the teflon bastards, they will go down on this thing now.

1. Doesn't "Independent Prosecutor" mean truly independent?
I know Fitzgerald isn't a "special prosecutor" (a la Ken Starr), but isn't he supposed to be completely independent of the WH? And isn't that why Assscroft had to recuse himself (because of his past involvement with KKKarl)? If the WH could have influenced (or muted) this investigation, wouldn't they have quashed it long ago?

4. I don't think so -- based on their behavior
They appear to be running scared and, even though * is saying "let the investigation run its course," they're freaking out because of what that may mean. I don't think I've ever seen this WH lose its "message focus" to this extent ... which is a good sign that they DON'T know what's up.

an Independent Prosecutor? I thought the IP statute is the one the repukes let lapse(or didn't renew?) as they came into power?

My apologies in advance if I have it wrong.

edit: per Wikipedia I have it right

6. They won't compare testimonies, because it looks like obstruction
Because the USA can drag their asses right back to the grand jury room and ask them what they talked about, and any conversation like they one you are describing can be painted as obstruction in the sense of getting stories straight.

Nobody in the WH is going to say boo to another WH staffer about their testimony.
