1. Sundance Channel...

They just added the Sundance Channel here in Anchorage to local cable tv.. But they said you have to be a Showtime subscriber to have access to it here.

Sheesh! I had Showtime for a while, but don't have it now.. They keep showing the commercial for Al Franken's new show and reminding cable subscribers you can watch if you just call up and tack on Showtime.

:think: I may just have to get Showtime added back again...

2. This is really got to be enlightening to those who don't know.

Nothing new for the typical DUer, but this is going to open a lot of eyes as to the extent and depth of the lies used to create the excuse for invasion and war. They are exposing....everything.

3. To comment On Both Here...

Yes, Ritter was "kicking ass", but so were several others. Joe Wilson was quite good too and I wonder if some of it was done to keep up the drum-beat on Rove. But given how much SPIN & Fuzzing that's being spewed right now, I've almost given up on trying to make others UNDERSTAND the magnitude of everything that has happened.

Now they're showing a program about 5 men from the Iraq War who received the Purple Heart!

As to Al Franken, I don't know about having to have Showtime (I do), but he IS on every night at 11:30 PM and I do enjoy watching him. I usually watch the Daily Show at 11:00, then go to Sundance!

Most of what was stated in the program tonight was "more of what HAS been" said, but putting it into a program like this can't hurt anything.

Going to watch the next program coming up.

4. I think the purpose it serves is to bring a complicated story into

focus. We sometimes forget that this community would find this old news . But for those, less politically attuned to reality, I think this will be even more impactful than F/911. This was a well written and tight documentary. It clearly stepped through the process of the past 4 years...I think the people who were included in this documentary were quite well spoken and reasonable with their opinions.

I wonder if the RW would even try to produce a counter documentary to support their causus belli? If not, why not?

6. I Actually Found The Five Wounded Men Who Spoke...

to be a mixed bag. But you still can't escape the extent of their injuries. The last two they showed seemed more reflective, or maybe more traumatized. Not totally sure since I think ALL of them WERE pretty traumatized. But hearing that one would go back to be with his buddies didn't compute very well with me.

I wasn't sure HOW to take the third man from PA saying we should have flattened the whole place, then adding the comment that he was an American soldier and that's what they teach you. He didn't seem to be talking "tongue in cheek", but who knows? It might just be his way of coping.

Nonetheless, the focus on the wounded did give some insight into the atrocities going on over there. I certainly saw a LOT more of that stuff during Viet Nam, so this may just be some "baby steps" toward some reality!

7. No surprise that some of these guys vent their hatred on Iraq

afterall, that's where their lives were forever altered. Many of these soldiers have had their worldview reinforced by the military's focus on us being the good guys and "they" being the bad guys. I'm sure, over time, he and others will slowly realize that the Iraqi reaction to an invasion and occupation does not, in itself, make them "the enemy".

It was heartbreaking to watch that. This is the story that the corporate media cannot tell. I was amazed with the strength of the guy who lost his leg and who has managed to maintain his perspective on things. I think the poor guy who had the mortar dropped in his tent in going to have more problems coping with his experiences over time.
