Bush reviewing "curriculum VEE-TIE" of SCOTUS nominee
...just played a clip on Countdown from today's press conference.

Bush said "I'm reviewing the curriculum VEE-TIE"...then paused for a minute, looked very pleased with himself for using a 25 cent word, and proceeded.

I want my fucking country back.

1. How long did Karl have to work with him to get that close
to the correct pronunciation?

3. You know something is wrong when...
You know something is wrong when the Indian PM speaks better English than the President of the United States.

4. He could have just as easily said
Edited on Mon Jul-18-05 07:22 PM by Fenris
"I am currently reviewing the judgments and rulings of potentitial Supreme Court nominees and am in the process of narrowing my list down."

No difficult Latin speak.

No, wait, he couldn't have said that. He would have fucked that up too.

11. But he has WORD POWER
He just learned that word, and smirked after he used it. He's so proud of his knowledge of Latin America.

13. If you want to believe Microsoft's Encarta Dictionary...
cur·ric·u·lum vi·tae

cur·ric·u·lum vi·tae (ke rìkyelem vi ti, ke rìkyelem vitee)
(plural cur·ric·u·la vi·tae (ke rìkyele vi ti, ke rìkyele vitee)
n
summary of qualifications and experience: a summary of a person’s educational qualifications, skills, publications, and professional activities, prepared when applying for an academic position. Also called vita

Early 20th century. From Latin , literally “course of life.”

NOTE: Encarta Dictionary has a little "wav" file of every word you can click to hear it spoken. This one sounds like "curriculum vitey" (like "whitey")...I've always said vee-tay, though.

BUT NEVER VEE-TIE.

15. Yes, so the lesson learned here is...
...DON'T SPEAK NATIVE LATIN"

...especially if you are George W. Bush and cannot pronounce simple English words like "nuke-you-lar."
