Breaking.....Bush nominates Alabama's Judge Roy Moore for SC

Bush announced today in order for the media to get off his back on the Traitorgate Affair
to nominate someone who would never get the votes in the senate for Supreme Court Justice,
but would as Rove suggested, bring up a big media storm, taking the heat off of the current media storm until the next media storm.

Judge Roy Moore nomination is seen as a brilliant move by republican strategist because he brings so many controversial qualifications and opinions to the table.
The ten commandments, God, Christianity
someone that was removed from his job by the court,
and idiot statements and actions,
such as:

1. "United States was founded as a Christian nation and that Christians should “take back our land.”

2. he opened court sessions with prayers led by a local clergyman.



Even though he has a snowball chance in Hell being confirmed, the media is looking forward to this new distraction until the Saddam trial can begin.

make it through the Senate after they did the nuclear option. Senate rpigs would be loyal on a nominee that appeals to their base.

You know that's the Dems worst nightmare, especially after the Nuclear Battle. Cheney's been breathing down all thier necks ever since and now they are essentially without a constituency. The Fundies want to hang them and the moderate Republicans have no voice so don't look for the fabulous 14 to hold in the Supreme Court battle.

I don't think the Dems are fucking around this time. I've been looking for signs of a horse trade and it looks as though the Rove affair may just the pony the Dems are betting on. You watch and see, Rove will walk from this but we may get a decent SC Justice. I don't know if that's a smart trade or not but I'd trade Rove for an honest justice any day. Rove will be gone in 3 years whereas a sitting Justice can stick around for 33. Yeah, I'd hate it but I'd trade. Unless of course they think they can get both, Rove incarcerated and a good Justice. That may be a bit too much to hope for.

as it did when Frist first threatened it. I'm thinking that boat has sailed. Bush tries to nominate Moore, Dems filibuster, Frist invokes the Nuclear Option which falls flat...we got 'em right where we want 'em. Meanwhile, the Plame grand jury hands down indictments, because those wheels are in motion and it really doesn't much matter if the public is paying attention or not. So I say, bring it on, as it were...
