The media is falling in line as White House requested ?
Bush said we should not "pre-judge" on the Rove case. He said we should wait and see what happens and suggested we stop spreading rumors in the press. There is an investigation underway, he said.

Then he sends his spokesmen out to discredit Valerie Plame's husband and anyone else that questions their motives or actions or words. The talking points have gone thru the right-wing radio stations as if by one voice.

And this morning, the talk about the Wilsons has subsided greatly from the last two or three days on the MSM. We will see if the discrediting continues within the right-wing machine. After all, we got some judges to pick.

1. Classic hypocritical RW approach.

Mutt and Jeff style. Ken Mehlman is out there to lie lie lie discredit discredit discredit. Then Bush, who is supposed to be investigating this independently, according to Henry Waxman, sits on his hands and says that we shouldn't prejudge. In fact, he could very easily call the responsible people into his office and simply fire them on the spot. I doubt Fitzgerald would object.

edit for spelling.

2. Who is stopping Dean, Kerry, Hillary from continuing to speak up on it?
We cant just blame the media if folks stop talking about this.

4. Maybe they are ??
We're assuming that if they speak up about it, that it would be reported in the media. I do not believe that is necessarily so..

6. LOL - the idea that the media even reports Dem comments is a nice
laugh

God forbid the media ever analyse a GOP PR lie and note that it is a lie as they blast it around the country - or even ignore a GOP lie because it is a lie - or God forbid they want to ignore as much GOP PR as they ignore Dem PR.

I do love our "not controlled by the GOP right wing" media - they just act like they are.

8. I've noticed "Democrats say..."
Every article I have read about this has one voice one opinion coming from the Dems. No one is mentioned by name just "Democrats say...."

Well at least maybe we are getting our unified message out.

10. Who is denying major TV interviews to Dean , Kerry, Obama, Hillary, etc?
And who is stopping them friom going on these shows and pointing out the lies you mention- and using the word "lie" in order to gurantee a defensive response and thus generating more discussion of the lie in question?

12. story selection is done by editors and owners - I've done multiple
TV op-ed editorials - on;y one of which got aired (which perhaps proves only that I do not do good TV - and does not necessarily prove any sort of bias).

What proves the bias is the country wide lack of Dem voices on TV - as GOP voices - called analysts or members of Heritage or Enterprise or Hoover or Cato or just network commentator on the given topic- are constantly heard.

I've heard that Senators get bumped up on those shows- all they have to do is "have their people call" the show.

Do you have examples of cable or network shows refusing to give interviews to big name, star Democrats like Hillary, Dean or Kerry?

18. One loses ones "star" if overexposed - it is the 2nd team players that
are really shut out. But the stars are also shut out.

Dean made a major speech in the last month in at least 3 states and got zero airtime.

The Clinton and Gore New York speeches got zero airtime - and zero interview time afterwords.

Hillary made ar least 3 major speeches that the story selection folks at our corporate media found to be not worthy of comment - and again no after speech interviews on those topics.

A hit and run interview so as to smear a Dem is always available - so you are correct that the stars can get on. But then they are not treated like the GOP stars are treated - indeed I do not recall the last "interview" that did not have the media changing subject, refusing to let Dem point be made clearly - one does get tired of new question being asked over the sound of the answer to the last question - and indeed talk over and set-up and post interview reflection is ALWAYS a smear if it is a Dem being interviewed..

22. I know that "speeches" are not covered. I'm talking TV guest spots.
And sure, no one said that the interview would be fair- but making an effort to take them on is better than making excuses and not having our talking points in the echo chamber.

Are we going to keep making excuses about why our talking points are not repeated on TV, or are we going to do somthing about it?

Who is turning down Hillary, Dean, Obama & Kerry interviews & debate show slots?

13. Fair Debate shows are on what network? - And you are joking regarding
Sunday talking head interview show's guest list being balanced - or being unbalanced because the Dems refuse to speak?

The League of Women Voters Pres Debates is the last "fair" debate that I recall.

14. Are we allowed to discuss Rovegate, DSM. etc on TV shows or not?
Are we be banned? If so, show me proof.

Are certain controversial sound bytes from DEMs censored? If so, show me a Democrat victim of this alleged practice making that charge.

Are we just poor debaters? I debate 3 RWers at once all the time- it aint that hard. You or me could debate O'Reilly or Tim Russert anyday.

Fact is, "Star" Democrats like Kerry, Dean, Hillary, etc have media access, and no one is holding a gun to them telling them not to bring up Rovegate, DSM, etc.

21. So the Iraq War is never a topic then?
"Wolf, we can't talk about the Iraq War without taking a few moments to talk about how we got there-now, about this Yellowcake/Plame business-....and not to mention the DSM....blah blah blah.

After the commercial: "Wolf, before I let you and your Republican guests change the subject, I never got to finish talking about the DSM in your last segment- it's very important so please allow me a few moments..."

Yeah- I know- rocket science.

17. PR under Think Tank cover is only allowed for GOP? - Brookings
has a few employees - who are not usually invited. And Moveon is "extreme" per the GOP so God forbid our media allow them time equal to AEI plus Heritage plus Cato plus Hoover time.

Why are "Has been's" only allowed on if they are GOP? When was the last Dem "has been", who was not on to criticize the Dem party, allowed on a network to be critical of the GOP?

US media is not subtle - the right wing bias is very heavy in the US media.

Beyond that, however, I agree that our guys when given a chance are all too often ready to not be critical of the GOP so as to appear unbiased and open-minded - a posture I find stupid, ineffective, and indeed it turns me off the Dem party when it happens.

And the above " open-minded Dems saying media is fair" comment answers your request to "show me a Democrat victim of this alleged practice making that charge" - our guys always try to say the media is fair so as to not annoy the media - they have ant size balls.

20. But Kerry, Hillary, Dean, Obama can essentially get on anytime.
I would find it hard to believe that they are being turned down.

If DEMs are afraid to discuss when they are censored (I personaly dont believe it happens), then that is a problem- they can help solve it by simply speaking up and giving the public examples.

5. Lanny Davis (Clinton Lawyer) was on CNN saying Dems should NOT
talk about this. He said Dems should wait until Fitgerald finishes the case. But, that Bush should apologize to the Wilsons for the pain the leak has caused them.

IOW's he was heavily pushing the "Give them enough rope..." scenario.

I kid you not! :eyes:

3. This happens all the time in the nedia, but it's not a problem.
NOTHING is going to stop Fitz. A SCOTUS nominee will take the headlines for a few days, but the investigation isn't going away. This same thing happened with Watergate. The sotry would be HOT for a week or two, and then something else would take over for a little while, but Watergate kept coming back, and this will too.
