Can the robo-calls in NH be traced?
Edited on Mon Jan-26-04 01:14 AM by ProudToBeLiberal
You know the late night calls that are automated. well someone from the dean blog posted this.

Attention to anyone in New Hampshire. Spread the word. Any late night or early morning calls can be traced by dialing *57 and reported. These dirty tricks must not only be stopped but also exposed.

3. They can be traced by the phone company, yes. The key
is to get the word out to people in NH and encourage them to do this.

6. Oh you can bet it's getting reported
It worked in Iowa because we weren't onto those doing this. But we know now, and those responsible are going to pay dearly for this once they're caught. If it is one of Dean's opponents, their political career and reputation are both going to be destroyed over this one. Campaign fraud is a serious offense.

7. Would any candidate sanction this?
Doubtful. But it wouldn't shock me to find out that it's a dirty tricks campaign being run by the RNC.

8. As Long As You Have The Phone Number and Time
If you have a phone number and a time then you can trace it.

It's fairly trivial for someone with some basic access to a switching database and an electronic billing system to find this information, i.e. someone at your phone company.
