Fighting Roberts is futile. We need to keep pressure on Plamegate.
That's where BushCo is the most vulnerable now. Roberts looks like a shoo-in. He has had too much Dem support in the past for any filibuster to take shape and last. And even if it did, there are endless numbers of more conservative judges and politicians out there that Chimpy could throw into the fray. Best to sign off Roberts as a gimme we can live with to the Repukes and get on with getting Rove arrested. A show of displeasure with his record by a solid Dem "no" vote is enough for political purposes for the '06 elections.

1. Plenty of time for than when the indictments come out.
Seriously, that is really the time to strike. Give Rovegate a rest for a few weeks. It will still be there.

2. Tell me what exactly we can do to further the Plame case?
The Rove thing is nice for scoring political points, but any movement on that isn't going to come from the media or from activists, it's going to come from the prosecutor.

Everyone is so hung up on getting Rove they are forgetting about everything else. It's a damn shame.

4. The more the Plamegate fire is fanned, the more the public is interested
in it, and the more the MSM will cover it, even before any indictments. The MSM coverage will continue to erode BushCo's standing in the polls and decrease his power and effectiveness as President*. Also, the MSM may suddenly develop a real backbone on this issue and go after Rove and Co. like they did Nixon during Watergate and uncover all sorts of new juicy tidbits of corruption to report on.

3. Unless there is a skeleton out there, I'm afraid I agree with you.
Dems should, however, look very carefully at his role in Florida 2000.

5. Do a TwoFer: Ask Roberts About PlameGate!
The people need to know how he would rule in various aspects of
this case and others like it, because the new justice will likely
be ruling on them.

And that's a way to keep Plamegate in the news!

To cave in on Roberts is to cave in on Roe v. Wade.

11. Realistically, what did you expect?
I can't imagine Bush appointing anyone more moderate. Sure, this guy is VERy conservative. But compared to some of the names on the short list, he's quite moderate.

I sincerely don't think we were going to do much better. If we were to filibuster and win, I can only imagine the type of knuckledragger Bush would nominate next.

Why waste the energy?

How can Democrats win a moderate or liberal USSC nominee?

7. The message has to be that this adm. doesn't deserve to be in power!
We've got to keep up the pressure to make all their bogus comments about how Chimp "won" so he deserves to get his choice on the Supreme Court look ridiculous!

8. Both can be done, as well as Tom DeLay ethics, DSM, etc...what it comes
down to I think is that your worried about how much media coverage each will get and one issue will be drowned out by another...

This is all very true, because we know how the right-wing corporate media operates...

Still, we mustn't just give in and hope the MSM will give each adequate coverage.
