Bush surprises many in nominating CBS correspondent John Roberts

(AP)In a rare prime time US Supreme Court nomination speech President Bush Tuesday night announced his decision to nominate CBS journalist John Roberts to the United States Supreme Court. Roberts, once seen as the heir apparent to the horribly discredited and shamed Dan Rather, was noticeably taken aback by the choice quickly returning the network to its normal prime time schedule.

Many insiders said they were very surprised. Tim Russert, host of NBC's "Meet The Press" commented on the Today Show "What with the low state of affairs at CBS, relative to our networks untarnished news image, if you consider the "Rathergate" episode and how terribly wrong this White House proved CBS to be this is very surprising. CNN's Robert Novak said he was not at all surprised by the choice saying that he was told about Roberts being considered by a senior administration official "Just one this time" Novak said.

... he doesn't feel even remotely bad about RUINING the career of a CIA agent. So much to the point where he mocks the "senior administration officials" language that he previously used when he outed a covert agent. Nothing like poking the bear (or donkey?) while it's already hungry for blood. I suddenly wish very bad things upon Novak! ...as if i didn't already :whistles innocently:
