Roberts: Its way too early to decide...
The media basically has this guy confirmed already with the overall sentiment that this may be a fight but not a battle. We don't know enough about this guy to make a snap decision either way, yes or no. The timing of this is an obvious aversion tool from all the Rove speculation, but I am not willing to just sit back and not listen carefully to everything he has to say. The Sumpreme Court pick is for life. We will be dealing with this guy long after Bush is sipping Kool-Aid on his Crawford Ranch, with Karl Rove reminiscing about all the lies and "remember how we got away with war and got revenge for my Daddy". I am a little upset when I hear people say "confirm this guy", we have other fish to fry. Lets remember what is at stake here. We can certainly fight two battles at once if need be.

2. But fight to what end?
Not that I agree with the strategy, but he's going to get confirmed anyway. There is nothing we can do to stop that, short of uncovering the fact that he ate a small child. Sure, we CAN fight two battles at once, but you can't fight both them to the fullest of efficiency. Why not fight the battle that you can actually win with all of your efforts?

6. I agree to a certain extent...
but what do we know about Roberts just to let him slide through on a life appointment? I am saying, lets wait and hear him out. Keep pushing the Rove issue now and wait and see on Roberts. He's not going anywhere til October. But I am not ready to give up and say "vote him in".

8. I'm not going to just vote him in either
But I don't think we should have a protracted filibuster war over it. I don't think it's a fight we can win.

3. We know enough. He is against Roe and the violence against women act. That
enough for me. He also voted via judicial decision to let Cheney off the hook with the energy docs. Give me a break. What is to like?

4. I agree
It perplexes me that so many folks on this board want the Democrats to roll over on Roberts. The Supreme Court is the whole ball game and we should not forfeit.

Let's not forget that Rove et. al are being investigated by the grand jury. That won't change just because Roberts is challenged.

Fight the crooks squatting in the People's House at every turn, I say!

5. We DO know he's been a judge for just TWO years...
How many people get named to the McDonalds board of directors after dishing out Happy Meals for just two years?

He's done nothing in his life but be a political hack. There's no great overarching body of public service or legal philosophy behind this yutz...

7. dems: use media to define this guy and his neocon agenda, then
vote your conscience and if you win fine, and lose, ok, but at least the american people will know what kind of man is bush by his nominees, and by extension, have ammo to use against repubs next year's elections.

10. Roberts joined the Bush Recount Team in 2000
and played a major role getting Bu$h selected president. That's enough for me to make sure this Polical Activist doesn't get near the Supreme Court.

He also donated $1000 to the Bush Recount Team. Nothing like putting your money where your mouth is. Can you spell PAY BACK.
