Why are we eating each other regarding Roberts?!?
Seriously, people! A little focus here!!

So far as I can see, there are two groups of DUers here today. The first group thinks we should fight tooth and nail against Roberts. The other group thinks, for whatever reason, it's not worthwhile to fight Roberts when there's a Rove investigation the scope of Watergate going on.

Why are we fighting each other over this?!

None of us here like Roberts, nor would we like any Bush SCOTUS nomination. So if you feel like it's worth fighting Roberts, go ahead and fight him. If you feel it's better to just keep focusing on Rove, go ahead and do that. But there's no reason to be fighting ourselves over this when there are two perfectly good enemies standing right over there that we could be attacking.

3. Well said! And a third option
is to fight on both fronts. Whatever people are most passionate about should put their energies toward it. It's all in the same box!

I'd like to further add, which ever camp one decides to go for--go for it with gusto!!! (And report back frequently to keep us all informed)

Thanks, Vash!

6. exactly!
not everyone has to focus all their attention on one thing. that just leads to dissention.

i think the goal is to fight them on all fronts simultaneously.

4. FORGET ROBERTS...I mean...
...go ahead and sign petitions, write letters, etc but there won't be any voting going on until SEPTEMBER, for chrissakes! No sense flapping about it now. KEEP THE SPOTLIGHT, media effort, and the HEAT ON PLAMEGATE!

Well, that's my .02

8. Well, for one thing most of the informational websites on this....
...nominee have been closed or locked down. Those of us who would like to find out more about this man can't. Hopefully the democratic senators have better access to the facts on John Roberts.

10. There's a difference. Rove's being taken care of legally...
and not much more we can all do about that...
but we can tell our Senators to look more deeply
at the positions and written materials Roberts
has put out in his legal life. It doesn't matter
that he's only been a judge for two years...he
has a paper trail on very important issues.

that's the difference...Rove will be taken care
of legally...we all can do something about Roberts.
And if you don't find this guy's stands abhorrent
and let him ride...Bush's next nominee will be
10 times worse without the pretty facade.

Even a pretty face can overturn a woman's right
to her health and financial future, environment
rights, rights to separation of church and state,
no legal rights for prisoners etc.
