Hispanics and women let down, still waiting for representation
So are the African Americans. There are no Blacks in the Supreme Court. Of course, it wasn't expected for Bush to nominate a black judge being that Blacks didn't support and don't like Bush.

WASHINGTON - Hispanics and women on Tuesday night expressed disappointment — but not necessarily surprise — that President Bush picked John G. Roberts, a white male, instead of one of their own to fill the vacancy on the Supreme Court.

Bush's choice was a "letdown to the Hispanic community," said Hector Flores, president of the League of United Latin American Citizens, the nation's largest Hispanic advocacy group.

"That we have no representation whatsoever in the highest court of the land — I think it's long in coming," said Flores, a South Texas native.

Janet Schafer, president of the Association of Women Attorneys in Houston, said she had hoped Bush would appoint another woman to bring a different and necessary perspective to the judiciary.

"You want whoever would be best for the position, whether that's a male or a female," she said. "(But) there seem to be a lot of well-qualified women judges."
