just now MSNBC -- report of 3 DEM Senators being investigated
by the Dept of Justice for leaking TOP SECRET INFO on the senate floor. They named them on the segment but I did not catch all their names. One one of them however, is our Senator from Oregon --- Ron Wyden

here is a URL for a story I just found on GOOGLE -- http://cshink.com/justice_asked_to_probe.htm

9. I agree but I"m going to see a lot more REAL evidence
This is just like Bushco, to start an investigation against Dems, while their own is going on.

But, as you said Caution, if it's found they did something wrong, then shame on them. Go straight to jail, do not stop at Go, do not collect $200.

11. Must be a talking point...it was mentioned on Ron Reagan's show
And he laughed about it. "What is there to investigate if the guys said it on record on the Senate floor?" Clearly, the right is trying to divert, as a big part of the segment on Reagan's show was this republican ass-clown trying to claim that the three senators' "leak" on the Senate floor was far more dangerous to national security than the Plame case, which, he added, didn't even register a blip on the radar it was so unimportant.

15. Possibly a fake story
Googling the lede paragraph led to the link you provided and one or two other wingnut sites. Searching KOIN-TV, an AP affiliate, raised nothing.

Further, it's the Department of Justice, NOT the Justice Department. Any AP reporter or proofreader would know the difference and use the correct term, especially if it leads the entire article.

Just sayin'.

54. Plus, the linked article contained this gem

Cshink Comment: Members of the Senate Intelligence Committee privy to highly sensitive information (like Jay Rockefeller) will undermine classified military projects that they don't like by leaking information from them.
These individuals of flawed character put themselves and their self-interests ahead of the interests of the country. They should be charged with treason.

18. I was wondering what the repukes were talking about when discussing
Rove. They kept saying that there are senators that could be in alot of trouble for disclosing sensitive info on the senate floor.

I'm sure this is just part of the diversion. And unless the dems put our national security in jeaporady, as did Rove, their diversion won't work.

Edited on Wed Jul-20-05 04:38 PM by Straight Shooter
He came back from a fact-finding mission in Gitmo and found everything just peachy. Maybe he forgot to add that the peach was soft and fuzzy, too.

Wyden is a real stand-up guy. Even in the red parts of Oregon, they vote overwhelmingly for him. This is not going to go over well. My impression is that Wyden is tremendously respected by just about everyone on the Hill.

edit: I see the 12/2004 date now. I don't think this story has any legs. *whew*

28. From the article, it's not clear they were anything
but whistleblowers on a project that all the Democrats on the committee were against - this seems to be intimidation more than anything. Also, if what was in the article was labeled top secret - it seems they are abusing the "top secret" designation.

the distraction to take the spot light off of rove? apparently they shoved the spot light on to the dem. senators...and that was a plan hatched by republican senators who said that if rove needed to be investigated for leaking plame's name ... the dem. senators who had used classified information on the senate floor should have their security clearance removed too.

You attack this Adminisration and they come after you, your family, your past, and if they can't find anything then they just make it up. By the time the truth comes out the waters have been sufficiently muddied, such that the accusers of the Bush Administration have had their credibility damaged enough to take the heat off of the White House.

43. How interesting if the following is the criteria for investigation, they
shot themselves in the foot again.

Under Justice guidelines, prosecutors must review such requests and ensure they meet strict requirements ? such as whether the information had been properly classified ? before they agree to begin a criminal investigation.

So Plame's identity was classified!

still have to read the rest

they are proving what they are accused of, they will smear anyone who tries to make them tell the truth. This should be used as proof of that in case anyone doubts it.

And even better! Republicans who were present at the time of these 'leaks from the Senate floor' were obligated to immediately report them and start an investigation.

Any Repub who didn't do that is in the same trouble Karl Rove may be in. I see an up-coming headline '15 Republicans failed to report leak of sensitive material and are under investigation. If convicted all 15 could end up in jail. This crime carries a fine of $10,000 and up to 10 years in jail'!!

So, where's the list of Repubs who were there that day?

Seems like he went straight from the meeting and called a couple of reporters about whatever they were talking about.

I think he was censured, but it didn't seem to get much publicity.

It's going to get very, very ugly indeed. Did anyone think Rove was going to go down without the dirty kind of fight he's famous for?

They'll go after congressman, senators, and their wives and children. Nothing will be spared. They'll try every nasty thing that nasty mind of his can think of to discredit the people trying to save our country. There are no lengths this won't go to.

Buckle up, and hope we don't have many skeletons in our closets. Cause it's war.
