Micheal Moore and Move On
I was listening to Ed Schultz today when a conservative guy named Jeff called and started with the line of do Micheal Moore and MoveOn represent you. To that question Schultz answered no. Lately it seems that some Democrats are willing to distance themselves for Moore and MoveOn. My question to them and the Republican that try to bash Moore and MoveOn is what did they get wrong? Whenever, Republican go after Moore I think what it Fahrenheit 911 was wrong. Just this year new came out that proved Moore right on some of the things that were said in the movie.

The guy Jeff later moved on to the point that Moore was allowed to sit next to Jimmy Carter. To things like this I respond with Rumsfeld went to Iraq and shook hands with Saddam. Both Bush 1 and Bush 2 are good friends with the Saudis even though 15 of the 19 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia. In addition, in the mid 80's Robert "Bob" Dole went to Iraq to apologize to Saddam because American newspaper were criticizing him. Furthermore, the Republican Party is the party that had Rudy Giuliani at there convention. Can you imagine what would have happened if the Democrats had had a guy who had had an affair, blamed the affair on his wife and then tried to move his mistress into the governors mansion while his kids were still staying there.

This guy also tried to say that the country was not divide 50-50. He tried to claim that it was 60-40. This guy is completely wrong on this point. Bush only won reelection by 1-3 percentage points and that was with all the problems we had with the voting machines in predominately Democratic areas.

1. Schultz is a jerk if that's what he said, and here's why:

On edit: Any media person calling themselves a Democrat/Progressive should be willing to admit that there are great things that both of these entites have done for the Party.

IMO, it is immature for someone who has a "progressive" radio show to go public and diss progressives. Perhaps it would have been more "politic" to say how much he admired what they'd done, but he prefers to "represent" his own views and opinions.

You'd never hear Rush badmouthing anyone or anything on his side of things.

It's different for a private citizen, but to me, when you have a radio or tv show where you are supposed to support Democratic, Left, or Progressives, that's what you bend over to support.

I get enough derision and disrespect from the other side, thank you. I don't expect, nor do I want to hear it from someone who's supposed to be on my side of things.

This sort of comment just makes the freepers' days!

9. Schultz did not say they did not contribute to the party...
...he has said good & bad things about both before.

In fact, he promoted F/911 on a daily basis when it was out, and even re-debunked some of the RW debunking of the movie.

All he said was that they did not represent him. They dont represent me on every issue either.

2. I like Michael Moore and Moveon.org..
Not too fond of schultz.

From what I've heard ..I'm not surprised he thinks that People who are fighting "truth, justice, and the Orwellian way" do not speak for him.

4. I am Move-On (and DU)
And I don't agree with everything that the rest of us do but I stand firmly behind Move-On and DU's efforts to right the wrongs perpetrated on us all.

You must not buy into republican propaganda, it's just what they'd like you to do. My City is a very closely divided city. Just as my state is. You must not listen to the brainwashed unless they have proof to back up their statements. I applaud Move on, DU and Micheal Moore for having the balls to work take this country back.

13. that's exactly what separates MM and MoveON from Democrats is
the fact that they have balls and actually use them instead of being spineless bend-overs.

5. Tricky question
I don't mind that Moveon.org is out there trying to do good as they see fit. But they don't represent me as a Dem any more than Bush represents the Republicans that are here on this board. I didn't give them that power. I don't belong to their group. They do not speak for me.

We are a big tent. I do my thing, they do theirs. If I wanted them to represent my interests, I'd join them. But they've done a couple of arrogant things in the last 8 months that lead me to say that I probably wouldn't join them. I joined the Dem Party. Howard Dean represents me.

6. I cannot listen to Ed Shultz any longer than five minutes at a time.
He is (in my opinion) a self promoting blow-hard with a limited understanding of the a issues being discussed. However, if people listen to him and he is promoting the democratic message, thats better than having no voice at all.

11. He talks and acts like people I know in Georgia.
I like him- I consider his voice an asset- I think his show has the potential to appeal to Democrats & moderates in the South & Midwest.

7. They can never tell factually tell you their problem with either of them.
Edited on Wed Jul-20-05 05:46 PM by Dr Fate
They either bring up the "lies" of F/911- which have been debunked as true, or the "Hitler Ad" they say Move On ran, which they did not.

Fact is most Moderates & swingvoters dont pay much attention to Moveon or Moore.

Dont let it bother you- that caller was a paid professional RNC caller-I've heard his voice before.

15. If The Nation Is 60% Liberal
why do the conservatives control every apparatus of government?

I bookmarked the exit poll data from 2004 for occasions just like this...

16. That is just because the term Liberal has been used pejoratively
People don't like the term, but if you ask them issue by issue what they believe the moderates are really liberals.

19. I Agree
As far as this last election goes there were many problems with the voting polls that were not reported very much in the news if at all. For instance, the voting machines in New Orleans were down for most of the day. In addition, at least one polling place in Flordia did not open on time in that they could not find the voting roll and noone could vote until they found the voting roll. So this place opened at least an hour late.

Another thing is a misundering of the issues. There were many people who voted for Bush because they thought he supported things he did not support. Also, there were people who were blaming Democrats for things that they should have blamed Republicans for doing. One person told the story on Democracy Now of encounter a person who claimed that the Democrats were the ones who had told lies about Iraq. Maybe the guy making the statement about Democrats was just being silly, but it seems that a large amount of people did not really know the issues.
