Just before lunch a known freeper in our company walked by and asked my "Was that you in the paper this morning?" and before I could ask how he knew I was streaking through my house with just the classified wrapped round me hunting down a towel and some underwear he added "the letter to the editor?"
I smiled so sweetly and said, "Why yes it was!" and watched him huff away, then ran to the local paper website and found my gem:
Kim Short (letter July 19) blames President Clinton for the latest Bush scandal. As I recall, President Bush vowed to bring honesty and integrity back to the White House.
Karl Rove and Lewis Libby, high-ranking administration officials, have been accused of a crime far more nefarious than President Clinton's redefinition of sex: They leaked classified information pertaining to the national security of our country to send a message to a federal employee who provided facts disputing the administration's claim of Iraq's weapons of mass destruction.
They should at least be suspended until the investigation is completed. Do not blame the victim, focus on the crime.
A president with integrity would handle this offense plainly and swiftly by firing these individuals for putting our country at risk in a time of war. Don't allow them to excuse themselves because they didn't use Valerie Plame's name, obtained their information from a public source, didn't leak important information or, the worst excuse, they "didn't know it was classified."
Federal employees deserve better than to be political footballs to be tossed about whenever the Bush administration wants to play games with national security.
I work at a pretty conservative company so discussing politics is out of the question--the LTTE and this website is one of my few releases.
