been listening to Fox for a while today. Lots of talk of possible US
attachs following London and Egypt. The attachs abroad are creating fear (with the help of Fox) in people.

1. As long as Bush and his criminal gang are squatting in the
White House, the eagle on the flagpole ought to be replaced with Chicken Little.

3. Not just Fox.
I usually catch the first few minutes of Good Morning America every day, just enough to catch the top news headlines. Both of the London bombing incidents were covered with a brief statement of the developments in London, and then a big long discussion of "How does this affect us? Could it happen here? What can we do to be safe?"

Maybe the world wouldn't hate us so much if we weren't so frickin' self-centered. (And by "we", I don't mean the fine people of DU.)

6. Yeah, that's the question, "Bomb who?" Who is left?
OTOH, we can't let this go "unanswered", that would mean we are being led by clueless pantywaists, a "ridiculous" idea.

10. Syria I might be willing to listen to.
But Syria is whining at the Bushites for more money to "keep foreign fighters out" and has a defense agreement with Iran.

11. Fear is the Neocons most useful tool....
because it stops people from being able to think. Fox is dutifully fanning
the flames.

12. "Fear" plays directly into the hands of the NeoConmen...
1945-1989--Fear of Communism (WWII to fall of Berlin Wall)

1993-now--Fear of Terrorism (WTC first attack...)*

For 4 short years, we lived in a world without fear. Guess the NeoConmen couldn't live with that...

_______
*Oh, and did you know the first WTC attack was "MIHOP?"

FBI foreknowledge
In the course of the trial it was revealed that the FBI had an informant, an Egyptian man named Emad Salem, who was involved with the bombing conspiracy. Salem claims to have informed the FBI of the plot to bomb the towers as early as February 6, 1992, information he was privy to possibly because he himself initiated the plot. Salem's role as informant allowed the FBI to quickly pinpoint the conspirators out of the hundreds of possible suspects.

Salem asserts that the original plan was to have the plotters build the bomb using a harmless powder instead of actual explosive, but that an FBI supervisor decided that a real bomb should be constructed instead. He substantiates his claims with hundreds of hours of secretly-recorded conversations with his FBI handlers, made during discussions held after the bombings.

Salem says he wished to complain to FBI headquarters in Washington about the failure to prevent the bombing despite foreknowledge, but was dissuaded from doing so by the New York FBI office. The FBI has not explicitly denied Salem's account.

14. The RW always plays the 'fear' card...there is always someone...
or something to be afraid of w/them.

The McCarthy era was the most despicable of the 'fear' tactics. If the RW didn't have some viable fear sources, they'd make them up, as they did in the past. I still hear people say they are afraid we'll "go communist'; but when pressed, they have no idea what communism is, and they equate Social Progression as communism lite.
They have no concept that Social Progression has made their lives much easier and the burdens of the past have been alleviated.

Since they can't outright kill Social Security, they scare people by saying it won't be there for them...but people didn't buy that little gem.

It is always something...we used to call it the Protestant Ethic: "no good deed should go unpunished".

These people are really in a sad state of affairs.

15. Many parallels from that era and this...
THEN: Domino Theory vs. NOW: "Fight 'em there so we won't have to fight 'em here..."

Stopping Communism in SE Asia or where ever was more preferable than fighting commies at the US/Mexico border.

THEN: "They want to take away your freedom" vs. NOW: "They hate us for our freedom..."

Throwing "freedom" into the mix was/is always a effective way to manipulate the masses...

THEN: "They might attack at any moment!" vs. NOW: "They might attack at any moment!"

Greatest potential for fear mongering...

And all the while, the M/I complex gets fatter, along with a few well-connected oil families whose members sit on the BODs for arms dealers.

13. Fanning the hysteria to distract
from their legal problems. I have never for one moment, since 9/11 felt as safe as I did before. Our defenses are weaker, thanks to Bushco, not stronger. I am quite prepared to do for me, mine and others that I am able to help but count on the government? Not a chance. All they are doing by siccing the Faux Attack Dog on folks is trying to obfuscate from their crimes of treason, perjury and incompetence. :grr:
