Laws that Rove & Libby may have broken
Here's an interesting comment in response to O'Donnell's post on Huffington's blog (it's the very last one on the page, at least it was when I read it):

All you cons who are so obsessed with whether or not Plame(Wilson) was "covert" or not are being mislead. 15 U.S.C. Sec. 421, is only ONE of the applicable statutes.

It is likewise a felony for a member of the government who learns of classified material through either their authorized course of duties or by accident, to release that information to ANYONE not officially authorized to receive it. You may want to check out 18 U.S.C. Sec. 793, which clearly indicates it is illegal for a government employee to disclose any information which is reasonably believed harmful to the nations defense or security.

So all this focus on the Intelligence Identitites Protection Act is leading you to not be able to see the forest for the trees. You might likewise check out any number of executive orders which prohibit the release of classified information.

My prediction is indictments for Rove, Libby for violation of the principle applicable statute(s) relating to release of classified information, conspiracy, perjury and obstruction of justice.

1. And Bush should be impeached for doing nothing about the shenanigans
His nonchalant attitude over the whole matter and failure to even express any concern or disappointment over Rove's involvement which they totally denied earlier, is the height of arrogance and abuse of power.

5. agreed, but the point of this is that a lot of people are apparently wrong
thinking that (1) if Fitzgerald can't prove a violation on the IIPA, Rove et al. will escape accountability again, and (2) he can't prove that because the standards are so high (even though we don't know what evidence he has yet). If "lawboy" is right, Fitzgerald has a whole lot of irons in the fire.

His info should make you feel better, that it's more likely than some people think that he WILL get them put away.

6. oh it does
make me feel "better"....... the more broken laws they can hang these suckers on the better, IMO.

OF course, I'm fond of "treason and high crimes and misdemeanors" designation - but I'll settle for whatever they get these slimebags on.
