McCain looked uncomfortable on This Week
Whorge played the clip of Larry Johnson and McCain didn't know what to do. He kept defending Rove, but George pressed him even more causing him to admit that he doesn't know anything about the case.

McCain defended Rove, saying he was just covering an inaccurate story so the leak was justified. Then whorge grilled him on the nondisclosure act, which McCain got a frustrated look on his face and then he started taking deep breaths. Then he finally admitted he knew nothing about the case.

it was better than matthews' show where he did not refute the 'valerie plame sent wilson' talking point. i was thinking of emailing the various hosts with the truth of wilson's article and ask that they refute these points as they are pushed by the busheviks. i am so tired of these guys getting away with the lies!

Dear Mr. Russert

I am so tired of hearing the RNC and friends' talking points about the Rove/Plame affair and I wonder why you NEVER call these people on their false allegations. I refer to, among others, the allegations that Ambassador Wilson claimed that the VP sent him to Niger when he clearly stated in his article that the VP's office had questions and asked the CIA to follow up. The CIA, on this suggestion, subsequently sent Amb. Wilson to Niger on the recommendation of his wife, who did not have the authority to send him. This is just one example of some of the talking points that have gone uncontested by you.

What ever happened to journalistic integrity? When did the news media become shills for the government? Do you even care that your credibility is now worse than that of a used car salesman?

I realize you have become attached to your paycheck but the American people deserve better. We want to know the truth, not the propaganda put out by this, or any other, Administration.

Respectfully

i know it won't do any good but i feel better now. wait a minute, there's a knock at my door! please come looking for me if i get renditioned. thanks.

On ABC's This Week, Stephanopoulos just read the text of the Classified Information NonDisclosure Agreement that White House employees are required to sign:
"I have been advised that any breach of this Agreement may result in the termination of any security clearance I hold; removal from any position of special confidence and trust requiring such clearances; or the termination of my employment..."

Stephanopoulos: Do you believe that this agreement should be abided by?

McCain: I do, but that also implies that someone knowingly revealed...

Stephanopoulos: This covers negligent disclosures

McCain: Again I don't know what the definition of "negligent" is.

That's our boy.

..what they might "have" on him. Now I just think he's rotten.

It was thought at some point he'd tell them off, at least. But, predictably, he never did. Some folks held on to the idea that he had some decency and fight in him.

After Kkkkarl had maligned McCain's his wife and one of his children, there was hope he would defend his family...values and all. Instead, he has continued to support the Neothugs for whatever gain he agreed to. Sold whatever he had left of a soul to the thugs. He must be very bitter.

defend his actions.

I have defended John McCain in the past here at DU, thinking that he was one of the last republicans with a shred of decency.

I had held out hope that he was a "rino" that stayed with the party to try and fight them from within.

He was, I believe a true patriot at one time with admirable qualities.

I believed that he truly cared about our country and the common man that has defended her many times.

This man has been to hell and back for what he believed in and never caved into political pressure having suffered so much early in his life.

But no more, John you have become another washed up old GOP'er that needs to be retired.

I can not condone your defense of this corrupt admin, especially some one that has committed treason during wartime.

Makes me wonder if the stories are true about your time at the Hanoi Hilton.

Why else would you feel compelled to defend a treasonous bastard like Rove.

I was probably among your strongest defenders because of your past deeds of heroism and strong sense of duty.

You may counted among the traitors of our formerly glorious
and still somewhat free nation. :nuke:

I only have one emotion to share with you....

Something tells me higher ups in the Republican party told him to tote party line or hed never get elected on their ticket. Now he appears to be a shill to Bush Co and the Republican party. Thats too bad, I used to defend him and his cause for less corruption. He doesnt sound like much of a "straight-talker" anymore, hes part of the corruption now.

22. I found this on David Corn's
site..http://www.bushlies.com ..regarding Larry Johnson and thought you'd like to read it.

"But truth is not the issue at hand. Winning is. For the right, that means firing up the fog machine and creating as many smokescreens as possible. This comes as no surprise. Still, I find it disheartening. (I can only imagine how Valerie Wilson feels.) Larry Johnson says it's a sign of how desperate the White House and its pals are. He quips, "I love the smell of fear in the morning. It smells like victory." Perhaps. A conservative journalist I know recently emailed to say he was coming to Washington and to ask if I wanted to have drinks with him (which we have occasionally done in the past). I told him I'm in no mood these days. He has yet--as far as I know--not pushed Cliff May's ridiculous Corn-did-it trash. But I need some way to vent my anger and disappointment at folks like May, York and Toensing. This episode is causing Bush's defenders to go to the most ugly extremes. Maybe Larry Johnson is right.

23. McCain down for the count...
Stephanopoulos nailed him to the wall in my opinion. He pulled out the non-disclosure agreement and stapled it to McCains forehead.

I think I even heard McCain say:

"It all depends on what the definition of NEGLIGENCE is"

I just about threw my coffee at the TV. How clear can it be Mr McCain? This was a huge black eye for McCain.

The Larry Johnson clip might as well have been a dagger to his gut. There was no way to respond. His best answer would have been:

"He's right, I'm a weasle who puts my party before my country"

25. The Funny Thing About McCain Is...
The funny thing about McCain is that it seems that he toes the BushCo. line because he believes he still has a shot at the presidential brass ring. If that is true, I am amazed that he actually thinks BushCo. will allow an interloper in their dynastic chain. Our next president will be Jeb Bush. When you can manipulate elections, anything is possible. McCain may end up playing the political role of Charlie Brown and BushCo. will be Lucy holding the football.

55. My email to McCain
I am appalled at the continuing leaks of classified information from this administration - not only the Plame case, but also the leak to Judith Miller in 2001 regarding an upcoming raid and the Kahn case in 2004.

As a veteran and former intelligence analyst, I don't understand why all senators who are veterans aren't coming forward to demand some accountability. Our soldiers are in Iraq risking their lives to fight terrorism, and back home I have to turn on tv to watch the likes of McCain making excuses for Rove and his cohorts as they undermine our efforts in the war on terrorism.

I never thought I'd see the day when a former POW became an apologist for an administration that sells out its own troops for partisan politics.

62. McCain is a fraud.
John McCain, Hypocrite
by Doug Ireland

John McCain, the media's darling, has found a clever way around his own campaign finance reform law to take big corporate bucks in furtherance of his political ambitions while carrying water for the corporate mammoth providing the dough. But the national press is ignoring the story. The Associated Press first ran the story of John McCain's odorous but lucrative Senatorial service to the communications giant Cablevision on the afternoon of March 7.

But, while some local papers in McCain's home state (like the East Valley Tribune) have run the story, nothing has as yet made it into the print editions of the New York Times, the L.A. Times, the Washington Post, or any of the half-dozen other big city dailies I checked (although, if one searches the hundreds of AP stories available on the Post's website on its Politics page by clicking on "Latest Wire Reports," one can find it there--but how many readers would bother to do that?) One notable exception: the Kansas City Star.

Here's what the AP's investigation found:McCain repeatedly intervened on behalf of a policy Cablevision favored -- one which "congressional and private studies conclude could make cable more expensive" -- while his chief political adviser, Rick Davis (who's masterminding McCain's probable '08 presidential rerun) solicited $200,000 in contributions from Cablevision to an institute that promotes McCain and pays Davis a $110,000 annual salary. The Reform Institute was set up to promote McCain and his issues--especially campaign finance reform, embodied in the famous McCain-Feingold law.

This Institute is "a tax-exempt group that touts McCain's views and has showcased him at events since his unsuccessful 2000 presidential campaign," and it "often uses the senator's name in press releases and fund-raising letters and includes him at press conferences," the AP says. And, of course, it provides a cushy sinecure with no heavy lifting for McCain's main man, Davis, as he prepares the pontificating Senator's next presidential run. Cablevision's contributions account for a whopping 15% of the Institute's budget.
