So you were thinking of Nixon, huh? But the enemies list that I am referencing is the one from this White House. Remember, "You are with us or you are against us"? With the hindsight from the Nixon years, they are much more dangerous and adept than Nixon. Nixon's people broke into their opposition's office. Bush's people ratted out the cover on an intelligence agent, because her husband was considered a Democrat. It's all part of "hardball" politics, they say. But, that's what Nixon's people said also...When does "partisan" politics cross into criminality?
Anyone that remembers the partisan Nixon White House, and the "nattering nabobs of negativism", cannot help but see the similarities with this White House. With Karl Rove in charge of the dirty tricks, and with a revengeful and unstable person in the Oval Office, it was predictable the direction they would eventually take their dirty tricks. Even when there was no logical reason to attack, they attacked anyway. Just destroy the enemy - even if they are telling the truth. It's the pleasure in the hunt as much as the kill itself.
