KY voter on Bush's "faith and values"..."He puts people's feelings first"
LEXINGTON, Ky. — President Bush has visited this city just once, but his imprint is everywhere.

Interviews with more than three dozen residents and government officials over five days found that people admire Bush's values, but they're nervous about the economy and about how education policies affect their kids. They have strong feelings about him and his impact on their lives.

Sharon Purcell was drawn to Bush because of his blend of faith and politics. "I look at his faith background and his values, and I feel he puts people's feelings first in any situation," says the bank supervisor, 47.

Because of him, she says, her future votes will always be based on candidates' morality and values.

5. If/when the time comes,
I hope there is some program to help progessives who live in these "lost cause" red states to relocate to friendlier climes, because I would be happy to contribute.

Hang in there, Don Claybrook

8. Here is one
Now that George W. Bush has been officially elected, single, sexy, American liberals - already a threatened species - will be desperate to escape.

These lonely, afraid (did we mention really hot?) progressives will need a safe haven.

You can help. Open your heart, and your home. Marry an American. Legions of Canadians have already pledged to sacrifice their singlehood to save our southern neighbours from four more years of cowboy conservatism.

7. And that quote certainly begs the question, "Can you give me one
example of how * puts people's feelings first?" Did he put Michael Schiavo's feelings first when he decided to override the courts? Did he consider the feelings of Iraqis before he invaded their country? Does he consider the feelings of those people 'kicked' out of taxpayer paid 'town hall' meetings because they might disagree with him? Come on, give me one single example !!

11. I don't get it!! Why do they believe he's got "FAITH?"
I guess they just have faith he has faith.

I thought we were supposed to know them by their works. So lying, cheating, stealing, and murdering work as "works," as long as you have faith in his faith.

12. Because people walk into a bookstore and buy books like these:

...and they believe what they read. I'm sure one of more of these books can be found on the coffee tables of the people quoted in that story.

:silly:

14. Here's a book that gave me a lot of insight....
"Don't think of an elephant! Know your values and frame the debate" by George Lakoff. It's very revealing.
