GREAT quote regarding the administration bringing itself down over Plame.
Keith Olbermann (MSNBC Countdown):
Is it not time for everybody to admit that this has become the baseball bat that will not break? And that at the end of this, unless Patrick Fitzgerald somehow has been able to indict Howard Dean, that the Democrats will keep using this baseball bat and keep hitting the president and the administration over the had for literally months to come.

Craig Crawford (Congressional Quarterly):
Of course, if somebody's hitting themselves over the head with a baseball bat, do you really need to swing one of your own, in the Democrats' case?

3. Let's just pray that it's Fitzgerald that hits a home run -- over the wall
before the Repugs have an opportunity to strike him out.

4. Sun Tzu said it best
"The best victory is when the opponent surrenders of its own accord before there are any actual hostilities...It is best to win without fighting."

Also pertinent to BushCo:

"There is no instance of a nation benefitting from prolonged warfare."

7. Investigating the Investigator
http://www.boston.com/news/politics/president/bush/articles/2005/07/25/congress_plans_to_scrutinize_plame_related_issues/

The relevant paragraph in the link above is the very last one, and I'll quote it:

"Little said the Senate committee would also review the probe of special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald, who has been investigating the Plame case for nearly two years."

So, the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, headed by Sen. Pat Roberts of Kansas, doesn't have time to investigate Plamegate or Downing Street Memo's "fixed intelligence", but his committee DOES have time to investigate Fitzgerald, the investigator who may very well be the one to throw a wrench into the gears of the Republican spin machine.

Heh.
