I'm a liberal.

I like to keep it simple and easy to understand. It confuses my neighbors when I tell them I'm a liberal because I don't have "bad values", and I seem so "normal." But I make it a point to call myself that.

And you know what? I don't care if no one else wants to identify themselves that way. That's their problem, and only shows that they've swallowed the kool-aid.

I like what you said. I, too, confuse, my "conservative" neighbors because they know that I'm a good neighbor who has no "wild" habits.
I work hard, pay my mortgage, am devoted to my family. And I know the Bible better than most of their "good Christian" friends.

The Clintons and the DLC almost had me believing that the middle of the road was necessary to win. And since that no longer works, and just felt like selling out - I've decided to be 100% what my personal philosophy guides me to be.

And that is best described by the appellation LIBERAL. It's not a throw away label to me. Rather, it describes my approach to life.

But politicalcompass.org seems to say I max out both its measures of left/right tendency. Which is very odd, because I believe in the necessity of a state and a government, that there should be continuity with the current government (i.e. no "revolution"), and am very law-and-order to the point I say to obey laws one disagrees with.

9. A PROUD Liberal here!

Son and grandson of proud Liberals, too...my parents (who lived through both World Wars AND the Great Depression) had political beliefs that were far to the left of "mainstream" in their day. If there had been a viable Social Democratic party in the USA, they would have joined it. As it was, FDR was their hero, and mine, too. It's such a SHAME that our Democratic leaders have become so timid. If the day ever comes when the barricades need to be manned, and I'm still able, I'll be there!
