February

* Responding to an inquiry from Vice President Cheney about documents alleging a sale of uranium from Niger to Iraq, the CIA sends Ambassador Joseph Wilson to Niger to investigate the claims. He reports back to the CIA that such a sale was implausible.

2003
January 28

* President Bush gives his State of the Union address including the infamous 16 words are spoken by the President in the State of the Union address.

"The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa."
