Yes, the liberals will win.....but
....not until the country is desperate. They have not reached that point for a long time. And it could be a few more elections before it happens again? How desperate does it have to be?

It has to impact people more on an individual level, rather than on a group or Party level. People have to suffer before they make a left turn. The last time they suffered, to the degree that they demanded change from the corporate and monied interests, was during the Great Depression. LBJ and the Great Society were only a continuation of FDR and the New Deal. What will have to happen for us to get another New Deal?

We are not entering into any new fascist ground. We are moving back to the "norm" for this country. It is a mistake to think there has even been a "liberal" era in this country. It has been more of an exception than a rule.

1. All we need is a "truth" era. The public figured things out w/out CM
(corporate media) and it's ready to figure out the biggest lie of them all real soon...

2. Roosevelt won only after the economy had tanked for most.
That's just the way it works.

3. I agree on the "feel the impact on a personal level" part!
I've been saying this for quite a whil here on DU. People don't really care until it hurts THEM!

I'm not sure about the rest of your assessment.

I think there's going to be inditments of several people in this admin, and those thinks upset a lot of people on both sides!

There's so much more information available to people today, the Pubs are going to take a hit on all this. I guess it depends on who is indited, and just how far the info streaches.

Srub's antics could crush the Pub party for a long time.

4. I would disagree to this...
... degree. Fascism is about control, because it depends upon a hostile, defensive government at odds with and maintaining control over a significant portion of its citizens. In that sense, we are entering new ground for this country. In the past, that obscure object of the right's desire was control of the country to make lots of money. We have that now, but we also have a decidedly authoritarian streak appearing because the Christian right thinks it, as well, is within striking distance of gaining its desires.

Technology has made such control over that recalcitrant minority much easier, and much less obvious.

Still, I think your basic premise is correct. It's going to take some watershed event to convince the Bush lovers that they've been deceived. (Whether or not they'll ever admit to being raped by the object of their affection is another matter.)

But, not enough money, cold houses and not enough to eat are the progenitors of a powerful stimulus to independent thinking. It may take that to wake up the sleepers.

Cheers.

5. Unless voting is made varifiable, nothing will happen
Your premise is dead-on, and the blockheaded cult of the individual will only be swamped when power is concentrated among the very few and things start really going to hell.

6. I think you make a good point.
Being liberal is a smart thing, a far seeing thing. We drag them along bump...bump... snag...pull harder... bump.

What is wrong with these people? Why can't they learn, and are they really worth it? I understand we are in this together, and if we sequestered ourselves in some remote environment, strife and conflict would surely arise... damn, Pogo was right.

So, bump...bump...drag...snag...pull harder.... Human nature is a bitch. But such is our lot, someone has to step up to the plate or there would be no game...and the game is LIFE.
