You Really Think You Can Impeach Dubya With This House?
The one that just passed CAFTA?

Proves how delusional that sentiment is, especially in this Congress.

Can Pelosi force a party line vote on anything?

Nobody would have dared to cross an LBJ type leader in this fashion.

Sounds like poor leadership.

And I say this as an angry constituent of a Democratic Congresswoman that voted for CAFTA.

1. start planning now...when do the seats being filled by sell-outs come up?
Edited on Thu Jul-28-05 01:39 AM by sojourner
Maybe there'll be a chance if the next election gains democratic seats -- REAL democratic seats. I know that it's not going to happen with this house, so 2006 might be a realistic target.

6. and in 2006, they'll still own the voting machines, . . .
they'll still control the media, and they'll still be the ones counting the votes . . . and, if needed, they'll throw in a crisis here and there just to play the patriotism card again . . .

any questions? . . .

3. Nixon was impeached by a majority
So can Bush. He's the worst president this country has ever had. He's sent our kids into an unjustified war, he's made us hated, he's icreased our poverty and uninsured levels. He is no good.

5. Nixon wasn't impeached.
He resigned before his imminent impeachment.

There was also a Democratic Congress, and reasonable Republicans.

4. Start looking for a primary challenge to the sweetie.
No, I think this Congress is trash. But the impeachment won't be ripe for a year, anyway.

I want poll numbers that turn congressmen grey. I want the automatic equation of Republican: Treason.

If gas keeps going up, they'll have to impeach Bush to save him from a lynching.

Watergate was so slow, so obstructed, we were ready to scream "CAN'T YOU SEE???????" way before it was over.

I want little George hiding in his closet, afraid of the boogeyman.

8. Its either her or a repub
This is her first term, and she knocked off an incumbent Republicans that had been in Congress since the 60s.

I just don't understand why she voted for this.

Yes, I understand this is a conservative district, but she would have taken no heat for voting against CAFTA.

10. Impeachment is a pipe dream
Nothing less.

Though the more gains we have in '06, there is an ever-so-slight-chance it could happen.

Democrats simply do not goose-step to the party line. Yeah, it sucks, but it is true.

12. The Busheviks are going down by their own hand.
Rove & Co. will be caught through their attempts to cover up. For 12 hours, perhaps, they were shredding documents and wiping/removing hard drives in the White House after Alberto tipped them off, but I bet Fitzgerald is gonna find evidence of the cover up, not the actual crime(s). :)

15. Dems just don't have the power to force anything as the minority party
We can't subpoena or hold official hearings, which makes us pretty useless in trying to build a case for impeachment since we certainly can't trust the media (namely, the corporate, profit-driven TV "news" media) to create pressure on Bush.

16. We can't even force a party line vote.
If we had strong leadership, CAFTA would have been defeated.

17. Democrats never have been known for ideological unity
It's not really an issue of strong or weak leadership, just the fact that in many of the Dems who voted for CAFTA really are left of center for their district and can get elected and reelected with very little help from the national party.

19. When LBJ ran the Senate
You never would have seen Democrats straying from leadership like this.

And I don't believe that voting for something like CAFTA would endear conservative voters to a moderate Democratic candidate. There seems to be almost universal opposition to CAFTA from most regular people. I know a lot of conservatives, and I haven't found a supporter yet.

18. If Fitzgerald comes up with a laundry list of crooks (*)
and Mr. Bush Jr. had seen and hear the memo on Air Force One then the Impeachment proceeding will start. There will be no choice in the matter. If the Democrats can get their collective act together and move on this development, 2006 will be history for the Republicans in the House.
